Varying Reactions Trail OAU Matriculation
At last, the long wait by the fresh students of Obafemi Awolowo University to be formally integrated into the varsity has seen an end. Today, Wednesday, 1st September, 2016 is the Matriculation Day.
Going forward that the label; 'bloody jambite' may finally cease to be applicable as a sobriquet for the fresh students, one would think because of this, the fresh students' joy would be without limit , however, it is not entirely so for may.
While the joyous ones who are overwhelmed by the frenzy have gone shopping before now in preparation for this remarkable day, others are just taking today as one of those normal days.
OAU Peeps News Agency is on the celebration ground to talk to some of these fresh students on how much today means to them, and here is what they are their responses..
Glory Jembola, a student of the Department of English couldn't hide her excitement as she is elated about the prospects of becoming an official Great Ife Student. She has prepared so much, that she is experienced much difficulty in choosing her attire for this day. She waited patiently for today, so it's a business she could have missed for anything in this world.
Sharon Olayemi of the Department of Psychology, revealed that she is so happy that she is finally matriculating, after all the anticipation. In a seemingly the same approach to the day like Glory, she had bought a new outfit and according to her, if the matriculation was postponed again, it would mean much to her, infact, she would have concluded that some forces from her village are on top of her matter. She barely waited for today to have her gown on her.
In what seems to be a parallel opinion to what those we have engaged so far expressed, Alero Ipaye from the Department of English believes today is just like every other day and even if the matriculation never held, she would be in class by now. She doesn't look so freaked that she is matriculating. According to her, she believes she has been a bona fide student as far back as when she resumed.
Different strokes for different folks, right? But then, whether or not these "newbies" are excited or not, the tradition has to be observed, and Great Ife freshmen have been baptised as the custom s and protocols of the land demand.
As these handsome boys and beautiful girls take the matriculation oaths today, we at OAU Peeps News Agency wish them a fabulous and fruitful stay on campus.
The journey has "officially" commenced!

Today Declared Lecture Free For Fresh Students

As against the tradition in previous years, Thursday, September 1st, 2016 has been declared lecture free by the University Management of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-ife.
The announcement which was made in a circular pasted around the halls also stated that the day which is scheduled for the Matriculation of the Fresh students was declared lecture free in order to encourage the full participation of the students in the matriculation programme.
The directive has since gained positive reactions from students, even the stale students, who over the years have also been indirectly affected by the bustle of the Matriculation programme. Describing his experience at his own matriculation, a stale student of the Faculty of Pharmacy said, "The Matriculation day is usually very hectic, I remember I had to run from a class to Amphitheatre for the Matriculation after which I had another class and I still had to beat the 4:00pm deadline given us by the Faculty to return our gowns".

Chicken is “universal” in this aspect.

Chicken farming
In the second part of the XIX century, household chicken farming grew from a part of a bartering system to the full-scale farming business.
Nevertheless, the best and the tastiest chicken are those that grow on your own farm. Even keeping some chicken in the backyard will result in numerous benefits. You can reduce food waste, get a natural fertilizer and regularly consume fresh eggs.
Chicken doesn’t need much space. If you can let them out of your garden, a small cage will be enough.
Chickens are very easy to look after. This occupation doesn’t require much time or effort. Some species, those that are wasted for meat in the first place, don’t even need “freedom”: you can keep them is a small cage and just provide with enough food.
In general, the best way to learn how to look after chicken is to buy some for your own household and find everything out in practice.

2016 NYSC Batch B: Pre-Mobilization Workshop Holds September 6 & 7
The Director General of the National Youth Service Corps, Brigadier General Sule Zakari Kazaure has approved the 2016 Batch 'B' Pre-Mobilization Workshop for all stakeholders in the NYSC Mobilization Process.
In a letter sent to Registrar of institutions last week, NYSC informed that the workshop is scheduled for September 6 & 7 and it holds in Ibadan, Oyo State. The theme of the workshop is 'Overcoming the Challenges of NYSC Mobilization Process: The Role of Stakeholders'. According to NYSC, a session in the workshop will be used to take officers of institutions through the nitty-gritty of online Data Entry Programme being used for the collation of graduates' data for uploading.
Prior to this time, NYSC had requested institutions to furnish it with the figures of their graduates who will be mobilised for national service in the forth coming 2016 Batch 'B' service year. The deadline for institutions who will be presenting graduates to comply with this directive has now been pegged at September 7, the last day of the Pre-Mobilization Workshop in Ibadan.
In Obafemi Awolowo University, the Senate of the institution is expected to sit today, Wednesday to approve the results of the 2014/2015 graduating students who are expected to be part of the 2016 Batch 'B' mobilization. The checks conducted by OAU Peeps News Agency revealed that some departments have been able to finish up with the processing of the results and data of their graduating students, while many others are struggling to meet up with today's university deadline to present the results of their graduating students at the Senate.
For instance, some departments in the Biological Sciences already have their graduating Students' results ready - the students have seen all their final semester results and they have their CGPA and class of honour already shown on their e-Portal page - thus making them good to go.
In what seems to be a different clime, a graduating student from a department in the Faculty of Social Sciences who does not want his name mentioned told OAU Peeps that he is not sure his department will meet up, except another Senate meets before the NYSC deadline of September 7. According to him, apart Special Elective courses, he has seen only the result of just one of the courses he took in his final semester.
It is expected that the results that are approved by the Senate today will be published by the Division of Student Affairs (DSA). Also, the NYSC timetable for the 2016 Batch 'B' is expected to be released anytime from now.
