In an exclusive interview with Azuka Ogujiuba, ThisDay Editor, which was obtained exclusively by Pulse TV, Tiwa Savage addressed the allegations, and made emotional revelations about her husband.

Tiwa Savage has addressed the shocking accusations levelled against her by (ex) husband Tunji ‘Teebillz’ Balogun.

Yesterday, Teebillz had taken to social media to level allegations of infidelity, neglect and passive torture from Tiwa Savage in their marriage. He was later reported to have attempted suicide by jumping off the Lekki-Ikoyi bridge in Lagos.

The allegations brought on a lot of heat and discussions on social media, with many polarizing opinions being offered.

But in an exclusive interview with Azuka Ogujiuba, ThisDay Editor, which was obtained exclusively by Pulse TV, Tiwa Savage addressed the allegations, and made emotional revelations about her husband.

When I woke up, I thought they found him dead. My first thought was that we need to find him, he is suicidal, and we need to make sure he is alive. I didn’t even know what he had said. Someone took my phone from me, they don’t want me to see what was said online. I was just sacred for his life.

At around 10 and 11, Banky W’s Mum and his family were praying, and we got the call that he was found in Lekki, and that he has been taken to Banky’s House.

For the past two months, TJ and I have not been together, it was something we were working through, but I knew this marriage would not work.

I haven’t spoke to TJ in about a week, and we were supposed to get some passports for my son. He was reading the messages and he wasn’t responding. I begged him to be friends, and let’s be good parents to Jamil. He didn’t respond.

I covered up for a lot of hurt in our relationship. Just before I went to Jamaica, I found out that I was pregnant. We were just trying to find out how we were going to manage another baby so soon. I got to London, on a 10-hour flight to shoot a video with Busy Signal (Reggae Artiste). While doing my makeup,  I found out I was bleeding and I passed out. I was rushed to the hospital, and we were trying to call TJ to tell him what happened. While we were sleeping at two AM a number called him saved as Edible Catering….I checked his phone, and the number was asking him if she can come to his hotel. She responded that He (TJ) knocked her out last night, that he was a great night. I confronted him, and he said he took another woman to the hotel and said they were just chilling. This happened the period I was in Jamaica, and I was in the hospital. I sent TJ pictures, and he was busy with another woman. I was in a hospital and you couldn’t be bothered find out what happened to me. I packed my stuff, took my son and went to my friends house, her name is Tiwa also. I stayed the night, and she asked me for the next step, I told her I was done.

I covered up for so long because I wanted people to believe that TJ is the one that takes care of me, TJ is the head of the house…I wanted him to be the head of the house. I covered up so much.

TJ has not spent one Naira, I paid for hospital bills, his flight, his accommodation, we also went shopping for TJ so that he will have new things. His excuse was that Í don’t have money’. I had to pay for everything so that he can go out and hustle, and get the contracts. He didn’t have money for diapers, but he had money to have a bi-weekly haircut, had money to pay for his laundry, had money to take a woman to the hotel.

His cooking allegations is a lie. I am not going to say because of my career that I am not going to cook. I work long hours to put money in the house, I work to make sure that we have a roof over our house. I come back home really late, and when I make something for myself, I make some for TJ. I had to hire a cook to cook for me, him and the other people that live in the house, I don’t think that is wrong…Even if it is true, the things he puts me through will not even encourage me to ask him if he is hungry. He goes out and you come home at 7 in the morning, sometime 2pm. He comes back drunk, he comes back angry, and we don’t know what sort of mood he is in. Sometimes TJ will go out and he will not call, and he will not tell him. I am just sacred for his safety, I will be calling him frantically, to find out that he didn’t go and drink. I am even praying that he is with another woman, so that at least I know that he is alive. That’s not the person that I will ask if he has eaten.

When I sacked him as my manager – I will never discredit or take away that TJ worked hard, hustled and believed in me. But what I will say is that at one point….he is booking events and he will book shows. The first time I found out that there was foul play was when he booked me for a wedding in London. I have to be paid before I perform. I called one of the organisers, and said I have not been paid. He said that the show has been paid four months ago, he showed me the account were they paid him. TJ declared that the show was for 3M but they really paid 4.5M, out of the 3M he was still receiving the management fee 40%. He took money already, and collected his percentage, and he didn’t feel anything. He was stealing from his wife. I had to perform at the wedding for free. I do get to perform for free when he takes my money.

My mum is based in the UK, and when I had Jamil she moved back to Nigeria with us. My mother is not like that (witchcraft), she is a sweet lady, and she’s very British, she doesn’t judge, she is not hung up like that. A lot of times, my mom would say ‘Tiwa you are the wife, be patient, don’t curse don’t shout, build the home.’ She has been nothing but a great support for me. I would love for him to tell me if there is something my mother has done.

I have never cheated on my husband. Not with Don Jazzy, Dr Sid, 2face Idibia or anybody. I have never cheated on my husband, and Tunji knows this. He knows that in his heart. (She breaks down in tears) Sometimes in the studio, one of the things that Don Jazzy and some of my other label mates say is that I am really good with interviews, with being diplomatic and knowing how to carry myself with difficult situations. This hurts. I have seen comments of what people are saying about me. It is not true.

I know that for every human being when your father’s ways are not straight, it will bother you. Since I sacked him from my management, he has been struggling financially. He was stealing from me, so I had to save my marriage and separate business from family. TJ wants to keep up with the Joneses, he wants to live a life that is not true. He went to buy a car, a Mercedes that he knew that he didn’t have the money for it. The person kept up calling that he wants the balance. I ended up paying the balance of over 3M. When it was time to pay, I put the money in his account, so they don’t know I was the person paying for it. He also bought a Rolex, and didn’t pay the balance. They threaten to go to the press, and to protect my name, I will have to pay for it. He goes to clubs and leaves the tabs for me, and I have to pay for him. He is putting us in debt.

What set off all off this was that he went to borrow 45 million Naira from someone and he lost it. I just found out that EFCC was investigating a case against him, and my brother called me from London and confirmed it that TJ is in deep trouble, and that some people might hurt him, that I should be careful. In my frantic mode to try and suppress this situation I went to one of my big bros who can help. A week ago I told TJ that we were running out of Jamil’s food, but he didn’t do nothing. He complains, but cuts his hair twice a week. I have been searching for N45M so that they don’t kill him, so that they EFCC does not carry him. What kind of man does that, and says I am the one taking away his manhood.

I walked in on TJ taking cocaine in my house in 1004 (Victoria Island, Lagos). I didn’t even know he takes cocaine. I walked into the kitchen, and I saw him taking cocaine, so I screamed, and asked if that is cocaine. HE started screaming that ‘What am I doing down here, where is the cocaine?’ How can someone without money take cocaine? I called his parents and complained that I can deal with weed, but cocaine, no. So I am dealing with his alcohol problem, you come home late, infidelity, cocaine, bad debt, jealousy over my success.

Before marriage, I didn’t know of his third child in Nigeria. A lot of people warned me about him, but I am going to say I made a mistake. At the beginning everyone says you can’t leave the marriage because our culture frowns on it. I made a mistake, do I have to wait ten years, 15 years? If I am not happy. And I was scared that if I ever find somebody else to marry me? That’s the misconceptions of our society. I don’t care if I ever get married again. I care about being happy for Jamil, I care about not walking on eggshells. I do want a man that works, that will help me with my financial burden. He doesn’t have to be a millionaire or billionaire, but at least someone that helps, and won’t put me in more debt.

Everyday all I hear from TJ is that ‘I created you, I took you from nothing, look at you now.

The marriage is finally over, it’s been over for a while, and I have covered up for a while. What happened was God-sent, and he made it easier for me to walk away with what he did on social media. He got so many people angrier, he pulled so many innocent people into this. Even his family. He made it easy for me to finally up and walk away.

I will never stop hum from seeing Jamil, never. Even today, Jamil is still saying ‘dadada’, and I was saying it with him as well, that’s his first word. I want to bring him up to be a good man.

Even till now I don’t wish anything bad on him. As we are doing this interview, I am worried that if he sees it, it might trigger him to do something bad. I don’t want my son to grow up and know, God forbid, that his father committed suicide. Tonight, I am still gonna pray for him.

He was getting help at one point when the whole cocaine thing came out. This has been happening for a long time. We get him help and he goes to see a doctor or a pastor, or a counsellor and he uses his own hands to ruin things again. If I didn’t care about him, I wouldn’t be covering up for a lot of things. I wouldn’t be searching for help for him. Even now I am still searching for a way to help him out of his debt, so that if he is out of this,

If there is anything that maybe I overlooked, or didn’t love him enough, or made him less of a man, then I am sorry. I am absolutely sorry…Tunji I am sorry. But you know I tried everything, you know I love you so much, and I am sorry, I never wanted to divorce, and I never wanted it to get to this. I want you to get better…and I would always pray for you.

FG Declares Monday May 2nd A Public Holiday

The Federal Government has declared Monday, May 2, 2016 as public holiday to commemorate the 2016 Workers’ Day Celebration.

This was announced by the Minister of Interior, Lt. Gen. Abdulrahaman Dambazau (retd.), in a statement on Thursday.

He called on Nigerian workers to continue supporting the president on his fight against corruption and ensuring the security of lives and property, stabilize the economy through creation of jobs as well as the diversification of the economy.

While wishing them a joyful and peaceful celebration he equally urged them to re-dedicate themselves to the service of the nation and remain productive for the growth and development of the country.

Do you live in Ikorodu, Lagos? If you ever have to withdraw money from First Bank and deposit it in Guarantee Trust Bank (GTB), I would advise you go to the bank with your three square meal.

I have often heard from many different people that First Bank is a bank for old people and the reason for this is not far-fetched; the name First Bank clearly gives an insight into this. And it is obvious, even to the blind, that they have a very large customer base. Perhaps this is why the halls of FirstBank are almost always crowded. GTB however is not as old as First Bank but it is indubitable that they too enjoy a massive customer base making thus making their halls never scanty. As is expected, the consequence of a large customer base with unmatching human and capital resources to attend to them can be quite "unhealthy": Yes... Unending and Annoying Long Queues!


In as much have authored this article with a little frustration and it may affect my cohesiveness a bit, I don't believe it has influenced my objectivity. I understand that commercial banks and even the Central Bank from time to time continue to profer new ways and methods to improve their services but then again there is obviously still a lot of work to be done; especially considering the fact that most of these commercial banks still continue to send their rather desperate marketers into the streets to bring in more customers. Certainly, if the number of customers continue to increase and the number of cashiers and ATM machines remain constant, the queues in the banks would only get longer and more legs would ache at the end of the day. I once saw a man want to go back to the wooden safe box " kolo" method of saving money all from the frustration of standing in one spot for hours. In his words; "At least I can take my money from the Kolo when I need it". Obviously, things need to get better.

But then again, like First Bank, perhaps the banks just want us to grow old in their halls.

Team OAU Wins Microsoft Imagine Cup Final

The students of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile- Ife have emerged winners of this year’s edition of Microsoft Nigeria Imagine Cup competition.

They defeated students from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology Ogbomosho and Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo, who was first and second runners-up respectively. And by the achievement, the students would represent Nigeria in the Middle East and Africa semi-finals to produce a champion for the world finals scheduled to hold in Seattle, Washington in July this year. The competition however is one of the youth development initiatives of Microsoft Nigeria to give student technologists, developers and aspiring entrepreneurs from academic circle opportunity to collaborate and develop a technology-based applications for future development .

Held in Lagos, this year’s event has 11 teams from various campuses nationwide. In the champion Humane Team were Otaru Babatunde, Oyatope Blessing, Shoaga Victor and Ayodele Obasegun. The team designed project that enable the visually impaired persons to interact and navigate freely among themselves on their mobile phones. The project according to the team comes with a hardware labeled humane handle and interacts with applications installed on a device using Bluetooth.

The leader of the team, Ayodele Obasegun disclosed that they embarked on the project to impact lives of the visually impaired in the society.

While expressing happiness that the team took the first position, he pointed out that it took them great commitment and dedication to come top after appearing in the 2014 edition. Speaking at the event, Director, Developer Evangelism, Microsoft Nigeria, Shina Oyetosho explained that the competition was designed to empower students to become the next generation of innovators, entrepreneurs and developers.

On the 25th April, 2016, a student of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Abegunde Sunday Olaoluwa with the pen name 'Speaking Pen' was announced winner of the "WORLD UNION OF POETS PRIZE 2016":

The President of the Jury, Dr. Jernail Singh Anand, (W.U.P. Ambassador to the world – W.U.P. General manager and President of jury) in agreement with all the Members of the jury, undersigned Knight Silvano Bortolazzi Founding President and World President of the World Union of Poets announced Abegunde Sunday Olaoluwa as the winner of the WORLD UNION OF POETS PRIZE 2016 with Reena Prasad and Maribella coming in Second and Third place respectively.

Mr Sunday, a 300L student of the Department of Estate Management, Obafemi Awolowo University, was said to have dedicated this international poetry Prize to his father who passed on the 1st March, 2016.

As a poet, this would not be the first award of the Speaking Pen as he was said to have received;

- FPASU as Most Inspiring Writer of the Year 2013/14
- ACJ prestigious Writers' Award as Outstanding Young Achiever 2014
- Creative Writers Association of Nigeria Award as Literary Emperor Award 2014
- Outstanding Young African Kindle Author 2014 and was also listed in EGC Top 50 Poets That Rocked Nigeria in 2014.

Gully Erosion: Ibore Community Begs For Urgent Intervention

The dwellers of the Ibore community in Esan Central Local Government, Edo State have raised their voices begging the Nigerian governments at all levels and the international community to come to their rescue over the continued dilapidations of the town owning to gully erosion hitting it.

In an exclusive visit by the OAU Peeps News Agency alongside students from the Department of Botany, Obafemi Awolowo University who embarked on a field trip to the gully erosion sites, the deep gully sites were seen and the inhabitants of the community expressed the daily fear of extinction they live with.

The state of Ibore community which has over 10,000 residents is a pitiful and painful one as most parts of town now sit on a time-bomb of been cut out from the rest of the state. The rate at which the soil is been washed away and the continuing deepening of the gully erosion sites present there is quite alarming and deadly. Some parts of the community rely on a wooden dangling bridge to cross over deep gullies to the other sides of the town.

According to a resident of the community who spoke with our correspondents, Iyile Nigeria, he said all the pleas and cries of the residents over time for intervention in the town have fallen to the deaf ears of the governments and that has left the situation to worsen. He went further to say the gully sites were not as deep as they are now some years back but because nothing was done about them, they are getting worse day after day. As a result of the state of the community, many persons have been displaced and rendered homeless and some have even been carried away by erosion in the gully during rainy season, a resident told OAU Peeps News Agency.

The dwellers of this community having been failed by their governments several times despite their outcry continue to plead for urgent and practical intervention from all over the world.

From World 3rd Fastest Growing Economy, Nigeria Drops Out Of Top 15 In Africa

Having enjoyed blissful growth over the past decade, Nigeria was one of the fastest growing economies in the world, but it is not one of the 15 fastest growing economies in Africa for 2016.

In 2014 and early 2015, Nigeria was named the third fastest growing economy in the world by CNNMoney, with China and Qatar, taking the lead at 7.3 percent, 7.1 percent gross domestic product (GDP) growth.

For 2016, however, the coast is cloudy, and Nigeria is nowhere near the fastest growing economies in Africa.

According to the International Monetary Funds (IMF) World Economic Outlook for 2016, as revised in April, the fastest growing economy in Africa for 2016 is Cote d’Ivoire and the slowest is Chad, which is expected to record negative growth.

Cote d’Ivoire is expected to experience an 8.5 percent rise in GDP, while Nigeria’s neighbour, Chad, would see a -0.4 percent growth.

Cote D’Ivoire (8.5%), Tanzania (6.9%), Senegal (6.6%), Djibouti (6.5%), Rwanda (6.3%), Kenya (6.0%), Mozambique (6.0%), Central African Republic (5.7%), Sierra Leone (5.3%) Uganda (5.3%).

Madagascar, Zambia and Chad are expected to see a growth of 4.1 percent, 3.4 percent, 3.2 percent respectively.

The fastest growing economies in Africa by GDP growth rate, as projected by IMF for 2016, are: Cote D’Ivoire (8.5%), Tanzania (6.9%), Senegal (6.6%), Djibouti (6.5%), Rwanda (6.3%), Kenya (6.0%), Mozambique (6.0%), Central African Republic (5.7%), Sierra Leone (5.3%) and Uganda (5.3%).

DR Congo expects a GDP growth of 4.9 percent, Cameroon; 4.9 percent, Ethiopia; 4.5 percent, Ghana; 4.5 percent and Republic of Congo; 4.4 percent.

Madagascar, Zambia and Chad are expected to see a growth of 4.1 percent, 3.4 percent, 3.2 percent respectively.

Major oil exporters, Angola and Nigeria, hard hit by the slump in crude oil prices, are projected to see a growth 2.5 and 2.3 percent.

At 2.3 percent, Nigeria is expected to see its poorest GDP growth since the return of Democracy in 1999.

This development has become a point of concern for the IMF, and the World Economic Forum (WEF), which would be having its meeting on Africa later in May.

According to the World Economic Forum, Africa’s positive economic outlook is under pressure with the growth rate expected to remain just under 5 per cent. Foreign direct investment flows are expected to continue to grow, although at a slower pace.

Rwanda has transformed dramatically since the 1994 genocide and is now placed 5th in the fastest growing African economies. The country is one of the continent’s most competitive economies and a top reformer in improving the business environment.

Ahead of the World Economic Forum on Africa in May, it is important to recognise the major challenges that many African economies face. Some of the major threats include commodities slump, currency devaluations and geo-security risks.

“It is important to recognize the challenges that many African economies face – the commodities slump, currency devaluations and geo-security risks all threaten growth,” WEF explained.

The Forum says its May meeting will highlight the need for diversification in order to ensure inclusive economic growth, tapping into the fourth industrial revolution’s potential to create new industries and help reduce inequality across the continent.

The World Economic Forum on Africa 2016 will take place in Kigali, Rwanda from 11-13 May.

Following the protest of the National Association of Nigerian Students (South-West Zone) against the one semester rustication of a student activist at the University of Ibadan, the management of the institution has hereby declared an indefinite vacation for it students. The newly admitted students of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-ife have commenced online registration for the 2015/2016 academic session. Most of the online registration which is exclusive for freshers commenced following the commencement of payment of the respective fees. However, whilst the freshmen still await the activation of the Online Accommodation Request Platform which is said to begin on Wednesday, 27th April, 2016, some other registration processes like the filling of the certificate form and uploading of credentials have begun.

Frank Edwards "FRANKINCENSE" Tops Itunes

Multiple awards winning Gospel singer and CEO of Rocktown Records, Frank Edwards has finally released his album; ‘FRANKINCENSE’ in a matter of hours, the album is already topping the charts on iTunes against Beyonce's Lemonade and Rihanna's ANTI albums. The artist, who also made this known on his instagram page with an excited post saying,

Students’ Union Movement: Threats and Oppression by University Managements

Nigerian tertiary institutions’ students’ union have continued to witness oppressions from their respective university managements and this has put the vibrancy of students’ union movement into test, as the tough time for students’ unionism on most campuses continue.   Students’ movement continue to witness attacks from the university managements, suspension of students’ leaders and union activists has become the order of the day.  They continue to instill fear in the mind of Nigerian students, and they seem to derive special joy in the continuous oppression of students.

On the 2nd and 3rd days of April 2016, the University of Lagos was shut down by the dictators who used their shenanigan power on the basis of students’ protests on poor welfare conditions. It will be recalled that this was the same reason the Obafemi Awolowo University was shut down in December 2015 and the subsequent suspension of all Union activities.   Also students of the Premier University - University of Ibadan, recently staged a peaceful march to show their discontent over the welfare condition in their various halls of residence and this lead to suspension of a student union activist named MOTE.  A similar event happened in UNIPORT where students protested to show their displeasure over the University management’s students-unfriendly policies and the result was the shutting down of the university by the toffs that occupy the university’s glass house.  In the UNIPORT scenario, a student was even shot in the course of the protest by the seemingly careless policemen deployed to the scene of the protest.
Have we done any bad by voicing out our discontents? Have we done badly by informing the public what we are going through? I believe it is no wrong, maybe the leaders we have are not ready to understand the plight of students.
It is sardonic that Nigerian students now attend classes in place not meant for academic activities (like sport centres), or should we not talk about the poor state of our laboratories and the dilapidated blocks of classrooms some of us students take classes in?  Is it a sin for me to tell the whole word that the hostel I inhabit is not conducive for living because there is erratic supply of water and light?  Our leaders should know that it is not the wish of the students to stage protests or carry placards, and this is seen as a very last resort to inform them of the things that are needed to be put in place.
Students have a role to play in ensuring that the constant threats and oppression by university dons do not stay in our system, by making collective efforts and providing unequivocal support for our union leaders who are ready to fight for our cause.

Also, the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) at the national level needs to start championing the campaign for better welfare condition and stop playing to the hands of politicians.  NANS leadership at the national is now a shadow of itself and cannot even pull a string. Hopefully, the next NANS convention will provide new crop of leaders who would really tackle the problem of oppression by dons who occupy the building a radical writer once called 'SIN-NATE'.

RRR Not Downloaded From OAU Portal Will Be Rejected - Management

The newly admitted students of Obafemi Awolowo University who are currently paying their fees have been advised to pay with Remita Retrieval Reference (RRR) number generated from the school's e-Portal to avoid problem.

The change in payment procedure from 2015/2016 requires the freshmen to login to the OAU Portal and download RRR invoice which they will take to bank for payment. Any RRR generated elsewhere will not give access to eportal facilities like accommodation registration and screening.

Following the shut down of the University of Lagos, Akoka consequential to the protest by its students due to poor welfare conditions, the senate of the University of Lagos has hereby suspended the Student Union of the University Of Lagos. The release which carried the resolution of the senate also motioned for a Constitution review of the Union; the review was to include several conflict resolution mechanisms in the constitution.

Also, following the suspension of the Union, the Executives and Student Representative Council of Union have hereby been dissolved and the Institution is to resume Academic activities on the 2nd of May 2016 while exams of the first semester of the 2015/2016 commence on the 9th of May, 2016

Euro 2016: The Mystery Of Football- Squire Readen

As the football world edges towards the end of June and by implication football season, we look forward to another tantalizing football tournament capable of setting the world ablaze.
As most of us know, different continents of the world, through their respective continental tournaments, usually choose the best out of the lot.  The African continent seeks for a champion with the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), Asians through the Asian Cup, South Americans through the Copa America, North Americans through their CONCACAF Gold Cup; Oceanians through their Oceanian Nations Cup and Europeans too, through the European Championship to search for the best team that could represent them at the World level, that is the Intercontinental Football Tournament (Confederations Cup).
Europe and South America arguably have the best teams on the planet, a fact that has been backed up by their respective triumphs in various local tournaments and those involving the world as a whole.  Their top positions on recent FIFA rankings, occupying the first ten positions (five from each continent) and their involvement in the world's biggest stages: 2014 World cup and 2013 Continental finals.
As Euro 2016 approaches, many bookmarkers and football pundits would see the German National Team as favourites to replicate the feat they achieved in the last World Cup Finals where they conquered the world.  If they were able to conquer the world, what then is Europe?
Taking a distinct look at the German squad, one won't expect them to perform at the top level they did during the last World Cup finals due to the drop in form that has eclipsed the season of their stars.  Even though players like Thomas Muller, Mats Hummels, Manuel Neuer and some few others still sustain the top form they took away from the World Cup.  Many others have experienced a drop in form: from the injury that has hacked down Ikay Gundogan's season to the tactical indecision the wretched football played by the secretary of football's team that has been imposed on Bastian Schweinsteiger to the incapability of Mezut Ozil to repeat last season's assist success at Arsenal not to talk of the lack of playing time experienced by their top striker, Mario Gotze.
Other teams have also been tipped to excel in the competition, the experience of the Spanish team cannot be overlooked neither can the ability of the Oranje boys be underestimated, nor the poacher spirited English attack or the Belgians tactical excellence.
In as much as predictions has 40% chance in football, I see England as great underdogs for the competition.  I wouldn't like to talk of their chances to avoid you seeing me as Nigeria’s T.B Joshua or the world's new Octopus but I would like to remind you, this is one of the most mysterious sport ever.
This is football, anything can happen.

All payments MUST be imitated from the University PORTAL by clicking on "PAYMENT OF FEES" from student's Home Page to download PAYMENT SLIP for each type of payments you want to make i.e. separate PAYMENT SLIP for Acceptance, Main Fees and Accommodation (optional). The University PORTAL will determine the type of payments available for you. For example, if you are granted a BEDSPACE, Accommodation fee will automatically appear. Please do not pay for accommodation until you have secured a BEDSPACE on the NET as such payment will not be refunded.

Present 2 copies of the printed PAYMENT SLIP to any branch of the Bank you select on the PORTAL for payment. It is expected that Bank will collect a copy while you keep a copy for yourself after stamping by Bank. PLEASE NO PAYMENT WILL BE ACCEPTED IN ANY BRANCH OF BANKS IN OAU CAMPUS.

The RRR Remital payment mode on the school portal is now open for payment of school fees for both fresh students and returning students.

Public Threats: The Wizkid-Ikeji Saga - Segabio

Some days ago, a social media clash came up between a Nigerian blogger: Linda Ikeji and a popular hip-hop artiste: Ayo Ibrahim Balogun popularly known as Wizkid.

Wizkid reacted to a news published online by the blogger about him being served a quit notice at his Lekki home via his social media page (Instagram) and this generated a lot of controversy.

Recently, Linda Ikeji stretched matters as she reported Wizkid to the police and brought to the public the reasons why she did so. According to Linda, she took Wizkid to the police not because she was afraid of him but because she doesn't take threats lightly. She expressed her mind about violence against women being a bad thing and also advised women to report case of threats from any man as the police force doesn't take such lightly.

My Opinion:
Wizkid is a musician that has so many fans, home and abroad, of which I am one.  I appreciate his songs, the likes of Ojulegba, Expensive Shit and also, his good voice. Nonetheless, the truth needs to be told.

I would say at this point that we should be very careful, our character and what we say publicly matters too.  As celebrities, many fans look up to these ones and will definitely want to practice what they do or say.  Remember the time of Olamide's "Back to Back" which went viral online. It is not until you become a Pastor or Imam before you act right.  I believe they are made celebrities by God for them to live an exemplary life for their followers, the so-called fans to learn.

I believe Linda Ikeji is doing her job as an online journalist (blogger) by informing the public on happenings (either good or bad news).  After all, a lot of Wizkid’s achievements and feats have been published by this same Linda Ikeji on her blog in the past.

Wizkid's public threat to the blogger is quite bad. What would become of him if some days after the threat, Linda was beaten up by an entirely different party or if anything bad happens to Linda? Wizkid would definitely be the prime suspect. There are lots of lessons to learn from this issue, more reason why I came online to express my opinion. Issuing threats, especially public threats, is very bad as it can be very implicating.

Furthermore, women are to be respected and not because you are in any higher position place infringement on their rights.

I believe there should be gender equality irrespective of differences.

OAU Lecturers Accuse School Management Of Administering N3.5 billion Without Due Process

The Budget Monitoring Committee of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, Obafemi Awolowo University, has accused the management of the institution of expending N3. 5billion meant for hostel renovation and construction of new lecture theaters in breach of due process and transparency.

The funds were part of the N100billion released by the Federal Government in 2013 for all universities in response to the long drawn agitations of ASUU against the government.

The implementation monitoring committee had spelt out guidelines for accessing the intervention fund for Nigerian Public Universities, but the school failed to abide by the guidelines.

According the report of the committee addressed to ASUU members, and which was obtained by PREMIUM TIMES, the management failed to follow due process in contract awarding as well as failing to utilize needs assessment phase 1 funds made available to the institution in August 2013 as required by the guidelines.

The report which was signed by the committee’s chairman, A.O, Aderibigbe, on 4th of January 2016, also noted that the approval for the release of the funds was done in writing by the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Education addressed to the Vice Chancellor of OAU on 23rd of August 2013.

The report indicated that the letter from the Ministry of Education conveyed the approval of NI3.5billion needs Assessment phase 1, funds to OAU under the Special university revitalization programme based on the needs Assessment report.

The monitoring committee reported that the following projects, namely Rehabilitation/Renovation of hostels for N200million; Rehabilitation/Renovation of lecture theaters and lecture rooms for N250million; Construction of new facilities-Hostels, N 2billion; Construction of new facility -Lecture Theaters and lecture rooms, N300million and Construction of new facility -Laboratories and Library, N300million, all totaling N3.5billion, were to be carried out as approved.

The committee noted that the second tranche of the funds totaling N2.833billion was transferred from the Central Bank of Nigeria to two commercial bank accounts operated by the institution.

“On 30/09/2014 I was reliably informed that the sum of N2,833,703,703.61 was transferred from the CBN into the OAU account with the bank and in this regard the university administration directed an officer to issue receipts as follows (a) First Bank, account no: 2023659287 Account name:OAU Special revitalization programmer Account , Amount N1,308,703,703.61billion and Zenith Bank, Account number:1013549122 Account name: OAU Presidential Implementation of Needs Assessment Account, Amount :N1,525,000,000billion and the officer complied, the truth will surely prevail sooner than later,” Mr. Aderibigbe stated in the report.

“The letter informing the university of the transfer of N3.5billion directed that there should be strict compliance with the procurement act 2007 in the implementing of the projects.”

The ASUU monitoring committee stated that while the approval letter quoted an allocation of the sum of 3.5billion, the university claimed it received only N2.833billon.

The committee wondered how an allocation of N3.5billion naira meant to execute projects worth the same sum, would turn out to become N2.833billion.

The committee further alleged that the university had unilaterally identified, prioritized and awarded contracts for some of the projects with total exclusion and sidelining of university budget monitoring committee,

ASUU BMC said that in compliance with the IMC Guidelines the projects should be awarded with the knowledge of ASUU’s monitoring committee, adding that the management was in violation of stipulated guidelines and due process.

The Public Relations Officer of the institution, Abiodun Olanrewaju, told PREMIUM TIMES that ASUU’s allegation was false, as all funds received by the institution from the Federal Government had been judiciously used.

He said the management of OAU had also been transparent in the handling of the funds and the execution of projects in line due process of procurement.

“To the best of my knowledge we always advertise all the infrastructural projects in two national newspapers and the tenders journal in Abuja,” Mr. Olanrewaju said.

“Fortunately, my office is in charge of placing the adverts for interested persons to be aware.

“If there is agreement between the management and ASUU regarding the administration of the funds, I am not aware.”

Omole Tasks Research Institutes On Food Import Substitution

Vice Chancellor of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Professor Bamitale Omole yesterday in Ibadan tasked the various research institutes in Nigeria to urgently work out enduring import substitution for all the strategic commodities, particularly food items, affected by the Federal Government's importation ban, with a view to ensuring food security and boosting employment opportunities across the country.

Making the call while addressing the 2016 Annual In-House review Exercise of the Institute of Agricultural research and training (IAR&T), Moore Plantation, Ibadan, Professor Omole also enjoined the Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria to sustain the initiatives under the West African Agricultural Productivity Project (WAAPP) for greater access to improved technologies and infrastructures by farming households.

Professor Omole, who doubles as the Governing Chairman of IAR&T, declared: "The recent intention of the federal Government to ban the importation of certain strategic commodities is laudable as this would assist in protecting and growing investment in domestic production. Agricultural Research Institutes in the country should therefore be prepared to provide the required technical support for such domestic productions."

OAU Pre-Degree First Contact Results Released

The Management of the Centre of Distance Learning of the Obafemi Awolowo University Centre for distance learning has released the first contact results of its Pre-degree students.

The result which was released on the evening of Sunday, 17th April 2016 came as a surprise to most students as it was released barely two days after the completion of their exams. The management has however asked the students to check their results on the notice board as soon as possible.

Fresh Students To Resume May 28, Stalites; June 27

Proposed Academic Calendar for 2015/2016 Session

According to a new proposed academic calendar which was found in the University Senate building and has been circulating the OAU cyberspace, the proposed resumption date for the fresh students is May 28, while returning students are to resume on the 27th June 2016.

This is following the approval of the 56 days leave of the Academic Staff by the school management. Also following the opening of the University's ePortal, fresh students are expected to start changing their passwords of their Portal accounts as the payment of the 20,000 naira acceptance fee is expected to commence on Wednesday, the 20th of April, 2015.

We would also like to advise fresh students to be careful when changing their passwords as any mistake during the process may stall their registration process and attract  an earlier trip to the University for appropriate corrections.

OAU Management Approves ASUU 56-Day Leave, New Resumption Day Proposed

The Vice Chancellor of Obafemi Awolowo University, Professor Bamitale Omole has finally approved the request of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU OAU) to proceed on an annual leave of 56 working days for the 2014/2015 session.

This development was contained in a letter to the chairman of ASUU OAU, Dr Caleb Aborisade and signed by the Registrar, D. O. Awoyemi. The leave has taken effect from 6th April, 2016 and will end on June 24, 2016.

Owning to this new development, OAU Peeps News Agency has been able to gather that a new date for resumption of the 2015/2016 academic session has been proposed. Fresh students are expected to resume in their halls of residence on May 28, 2016 and the returning students will resume June 27, 2016. Barring any unforeseen circumstances, lectures for the new session are expected to begin on Monday, June 28, 2016.
