Oduduwa University Disowns Suspected Cultists Arrested In OAU At Zlatan"s Show

The founder of Oduduwa University, Ipetumodu, Dr Abdulrahman Adegoke Adedoyin, has denied the claim that students of the institution were planning to attack the neighbouring Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-Ife, describing it as ridiculous.

Adedoyin said: “The management of the Oduduwa University, Ipetumodu, via Ile Ife is shocked by the claims that our students plan to attack Obafemi Awolowo University, Ife, Osun State (OAU). This claim to say the least is embarrassing, ridiculous and false.

“We make bold to say that those students arrested as cultists in OAU were neither our students nor had any link with OUI. We have gone through the institution’s portal and our records and could not trace their names.

“In view of this, there is no basis to spew publication or harbour any thought that our students are hatching plans to attack Obafemi Awolowo University.”

The educationist went on: “Why is OAU linking us with the challenges it is currently battling with? How can a student/staff population of 5,000 attack a student/staff population of over 60,000 people?

“No serious private university in Nigeria can allow cultism in its school. Nobody enters Oduduwa University without undergoing serious security scrutiny. Uniformed  policemen, plainclothes security men have been stationed at strategic places inside the university to control our security at all times.”

Recall, some suspected cultists were arrested on OAU Campus after Zlatan"s show in May which has created fear in Students & also made many security tactics beefed up by the university management

Department of Architecture Reinstates Students" Association

Following the recommendations of the Departmental investigation and Disciplinary panel which investigated the activities of IFASA IFE ARCHITECTURE STUDENTS ASSOCIATION
and IFASA executives under the 2017/2018 and Last two proceeding executives, the Department of Architecture has lifted the suspension on IFASA and the activities related to the association.

This was made known to the public by a release obtained by OAU Peeps News Agency & signed by the Acting Head of Department, Dr A.O. Ilesanmi. He added that the lifting took effect as from, Friday 14th June, 2019.

In the release, the Acting Head of Department instructed that  the following transitional guidelines should be noted and adhered to:

1. An interim IFASA Executives is hereby constituted, consisting of the following class representatives namely:

Oke Temidayo (M. SC. 2)- Interim President

Soetan Phillips (M. SC. 1)

Adegbesan Mobola Fisayo (Part 4)

Akpoyouwadre Etetobore Excellence (Part 3)

Oche Victor (Part 3)

Akanle Ayooluwa Esther (Part 2)

Balogun Oluwadara (Part 2)

Aina Moteniola (Part 1)


2. The Interim executives should communicate with and ensure proper handing-over of IFASA affairs, finances and documents from the preceeding 2017/2018 executive latest by Friday 28th of June, 2019.

3. The interim executive should set in motion machinery for the conduct of election into properly constituted executive based on fresh guidelines laid down by the department.

4. The interim committee shall perform all functions of the IFASA executive and report to the Head of Department on all student related matters, until a substantive executive has been properly and democratically constituted.

5. All students are admonished to fully cooperate with the interim IFASA executive to ensure the success of this transitional arrangements, for the greater good of all.

Speaking with OAU Peeps News Agency,  one of the students of the department named Ayo, he stated that the step taken by the Acting head of Department is a welcome development. He further added that students are very happy for the reinstatement of their association and concluded by wishing the interim executives the best as they lead the association.

It will be recalled that the association was suspended last year November for alleged misconduct by the students &drug abuse as stated by the acting Head of Department, Mr. Adetokunbo Ilesanmi.

The Catalyst Conference 1.0 Sets To Hold Today

THE CATALYST CONFERENCE 1.0

The Catalyst Conference is an initiative of Youth Empowerment and Support Initiative, OAU initiated and led by Mr. Olalekan Olatunbosun (Catalyst), a vibrant student and incumbent public Relations Officer in the Faculty of Education who has deemed it fit to impact the society.

The  theme for the maiden edition of the conference is;
THE YOUTHS NIGERIA DESERVES

The Catalyst Conference would hold on Friday 10 June, 2019 at AJOSE LECTURE THEATRE by 10am

The following would be discussed under the conference;
_The purpose driven youth, the entrepreneurship-inclined youth, and politically active youths._

There would be speakers from all spheres of life to take each aspect. These speakers will be talking about experiences and equipping the youth for life challenges.

Speakers who would be gracing the conference are:

 Prof. Ibraheem Gbajabiamila, Vice Chancellor Cresent University Abeokuta, Seyi Durojaye, Barr. Adewumi Adediran and many others.

The Convener, Mr. Olalekan Olatunbosun, stated that the conference is aimed at transforming the lives of youths and  at the end of the conference everyone that attends it must be able to make changes and do the needful towards the progress of the country.

A platform would also be created for those who attend the programme to encourage and remind them of the things they have learnt.

JAMB Approves 160 As Cut-off Mark For All Universities 2019 Admission

The 19th Policy Meeting on Admissions to Tertiary Institutions in Nigeria has approved 160 and above as the national minimum benchmark for admission for the year 2019 into public universities.

The meeting held at Bola Babalakin Auditorium, Gbongan, Osun State, on Tuesday also approved 140 as minimum UTME score for admission into private universities.

For public polytechnic, 120 UTME score was approved, while 110 score was approved as the least score for admission into private polytechnic

DENTAL HEALTH WEEK STARTS ON MONDAY 15TH AT IFUDSA

The 27th Health Week at Obafemi Awolowo University Dental Students' Association, is themed Health Meets Tech: Harnessing Information Technology and Artificial Intelligence in the 21st Century Dental Practice.

Established as an independent association in 1983, Obafemi Awolowo University Dental Students Association (formerly Ife University Dental Students Association), IFUDSA, is the representative body for all dental students at the renowned Obafemi Awolowo University, Nigeria. Today, IFUDSA connects students from different geopolitical zones with varying cultural, religious and ethnic backgrounds, and advances their rights and interests to be better professionals and leaders.

#WinterInOAU: Tension Doused As Police Nab Notorious Cultists

 The tension that ravaged the campus of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) Ile-Ife, Osun State, for a couple of weeks, over threat of a bloody attack by cultists, has subsided with the arrested of leaders of Vikings Confraternity (VC) of Oduduwa University, Ipetumodu. A gang of cultists, under a pseudonymous “Cultists of Aloha clan” had threatened to invade OAU campus today (Saturday, June 1) “to rain bullets of death, sorrow and grief on innocent students”.

Campus and many students fled while those remained on the campus were apprehensive of their safely. OAU management reacted to the threat in a statement, signed by the Public Relations Officer of the University, Mr Abiodun Olanrewaju, in which he assured that security agencies were on top of the situation.

The issue had been trending online with the hashtag “#WinterInOAU”, putting parents and guardians of the students in fears. A top security operative told Daily Trust that: “There is a strong heat between OAU students and the cultists of Oduduwa university and a threat letter was issued by the cultists, promising to invade OAU premises on 1/6/2019.” However, the tension seemed to have subsided with the arrest of the leader to the dreadful cult gang on Friday by the Anti-Cultism Squad of the Osun State Police Command. A senior police officer told our correspondent that “security networking was utilised by men employed by the Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Ige and they have arrested four leaders of Vikings Confraternity”.

Eid-Fitri: FG Declares Next Week Tuesday & Wednesday Public Holiday

The Federal Government has declared Tuesday, June 4 and Wednesday, June 5, as public holidays to mark the Muslim Eid-Fitri Celebration.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Mrs Georgina Ehuriah, made the declaration on behalf of the Federal Government in a statement signed by Mr Mohammed Manga, Director Press & Public Relations, of the ministry, on Friday in Abuja.

Ehuriah congratulated the Muslim faithful on the successful completion of the Ramadan fast and enjoined all Nigerians to use the occasion of the celebration to pray for the peace, unity, prosperity and stability of the nation.

Liverpool To Face Tottenham Today In UEFA Champions League Final

Liverpool will be looking to clinch their sixth Champions League title as they take on the first-time finalists Tottenham Hotspur in an all-English final - a first at the top tier European club competition since 2008 - in the Spanish capital.
