2019/2020 PTDF Overseas Postgraduate Scholarship Application Is Currently Ongoing


2019/2020 OVERSEAS POSTGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME UNDER PTDF STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIPS IN UK, GERMANY & FRANCE

The Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF), the Federal Government agency with the mandate of developing indigenous human capacity and petroleum technology to meet the needs of the oil and gas industry, invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for Overseas MSc and PhD Scholarships to institutions under its UK, Germany and France strategic partnership initiative. Successful candidates will be awarded scholarships to study in these countries commencing in the 2019/2020 academic session.

The Scheme
Under this scheme, candidates are invited to apply through PTDF to specific programmes at the partner institutions in any of the countries (full list of sponsored courses is available below). The award includes the provision of flight tickets, payment of health insurance, payment of tuition and bench fees (where applicable) as well as the provision of allowances to meet the costs of accommodation and living expenses. The programmes will also include language classes to aid scholars settle into their new environments.


Selection Process, Criteria & Requirements
PTDF scholarships are highly competitive and only candidates who are outstanding across the board are selected. A selection committee will be constituted to assess applications using the following criteria;

- Academic merit as evidenced by quality of degrees, full academic transcripts, other professional qualifications acquired, and relevant publications (where available) to be referenced by applicants
- Awards for leadership and/or academic excellence (where available).
- Membership of professional bodies
- The viability of the study/research plan.
- Applicants are required to make a case for their scholarship by submitting a statement of purpose (maximum 500 words) stating the reason(s) they want to undertake the study, the relevance of the proposed study to the oil & gas industry and its expected impact on national development.

Requirements

MSc
- A minimum of Second Class Upper (2.1) qualification in their first degree or a Second Class Lower (2.2) with relevant industry experience
- Must have completed the mandatory National Youth Service (NYSC)
- Must be computer literatePossession of 5 O/level credits including English Language

PhD
- Must have completed the mandatory National Youth Service (NYSC)
- Must be computer literate
- A minimum of Second Class Lower (2.2) in their first degree and a good second-degree certificate;
- Must submit a research proposal relevant to the oil and gas industry (of not more than 5 pages) to include: Topic, introduction, objective, methodology and mode of data collection (go to http://ptdf.gov.ng/scholarship-page/ for format)
- Applicants must also include their master’s degree project

2. Candidates who have benefitted from any of the PTDF scholarships in the past cannot apply for the same type of programme, except a higher programme;
3. Candidates who successfully scale through the first round of screening will be requested to submit their transcripts; all applicants are therefore advised to prepare their transcripts for submission in anticipation of such a request.

Professor Babatunde Osotimehin Annual Essay Competition


Entries are invited for the First Professor Babatunde Osotimehin Annual Essay Competition (PBOC).

Essay Topics: Participants are to select 1 of the 4 topics to write on:

1. Alert or Alarm: Nigeria’s Population Projection and Meeting Family Planning Needs.

2. New Solutions to a Recurrent Pain Point; Protecting the SRH of Adolescents and Young People in Nigeria.

3. If Comprehensive Sexuality Education is the Solution, What are the Real Problems and What are the Drivers?

4. Expanding Sexual and Reproductive Rights Options for Women, Retaining Choices, Remaining within the Boundary of the Law; without Agitating Culture.

Guideline for Essay Entries:
1. Essays must be independent and original;
2. Entries should be between 2500 to 3000 words (references excluded);
3. Essays must be written and typed in English using Arial font type, size 12 with single line spacing;
3. All plagiarized essays will be disqualified;
4. All resource materials used should be referenced using A.P.A style;
5. Participation is open only to citizens between ages 15 and 30 that are resident in Nigeria;
6. Only one entry is permitted per person;
7. All entries must be original and hitherto unpublished. The copyright for all entries will be transferred to the organizers;
8. Participants deem it fit for the organizers to use their details and entries for promotional purposes;

The essay competition seeks to enrich conversation and research on the continual and untiring quest for brilliant solutions as a means to drive the much desired demographic dividends.

Paradigm Initiative Digital Rights Fellowship For Undergraduates (Fully Funded)


Paradigm Initiative is pleased to announce its fully funded Fellowships to the Nigerian Internet Governance Forum 2018.

The fellowship is open to all undergraduates in their penultimate year (year before final year), irrespective of field of study.

Selected fellows will be sponsored to attend the 2018 Nigeria Internet Governance Forum in Abuja in July 2018. The fellowship will cover flight, accommodation and per diem.

Selection will be based on the following criteria:


Keen interest in ICT Policy issues in general, and Digital Rights in particularWillingness to complete a final year project related to Digital Rights, irrespective of field of study and angle (legal, technical, social, etc) of approach to the relevant issuesAvailability to travel to — and from Abuja — between July 1 and 4, 2018

Overview


2017/2018 NAOC TERTIARY SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME: APPLICATION/EXAMINATION
The Nigerian Agip Oil Company Limited (NAOC) Joint Venture in pursuance of its Corporate Social Responsibility invites suitably qualified applicants for its 2017/2018 Session Tertiary Scholarship Scheme, effective from 17th to 30th April, 2018.

Category of Awards
Host Communities Merit Award – For applicants strictly from NAOC Host Communities
National Merit Award – For applicants from Non-Host communities

Requirements/Eligibility
To qualify for consideration, applicants MUST be:

Registered Full TIME undergraduates in Nigerian Tertiary Institutions
Certified 100 level students at the time of application (Only students admitted in 2017/2018 academic session)

NOTE: The following categories of students should not apply:
- 200 level students and above
- Current beneficiaries of similar Awards from other Companies and Agencies
- Dependants of NAOC/NAE/AENR/NACPFA
- Only Indigenes of NAOC Host Communities in Rivers, Bayelsa, Delta and Imo States SHOULD apply for the Host Communities Merit Award.

Embassy Of Ireland In Nigeria #PeaceWriteNow Writing Contest 2018


2018 marks the 20th Anniversary of the Good Friday Agreement. The Agreement, ratified in both Ireland and Northern Ireland in May 1998, has played a very significant role in creating peace on the island of Ireland since that time.

This year the Embassy of Ireland in Nigeria undertook the #Road2Peace programme in collaboration with Likeminds. This involved travelling to six institutions of higher learning to speak about the Northern Ireland Peace Process and discuss current challenges in Nigeria. We listened to many young Nigerians who shared their thoughts, ideas and hopes for sustainable peace and dialogue and asked what they could do.

On this journey, we heard many young voice but we want to hear more. This is why to commemorate the 20th Anniversary of the Good Friday Agreement, the Embassy has launched the #PeaceWriteNow Writing Contest.

Interested candidates should write an essay on the broad theme "Fostering Sustainable Peace and Dialogue in Nigeria". Entrants are invited to focus on the role that they can play to foster sustainable peace. Areas of interest could be youth empowerment and discussion of the Good Friday Agreement. The deadline for entries is 17:00 Friday April 20th.

The top five selected essays will receive prizes as follows:

1st Prize: €500 cash grant for books.
2nd Prize: €250 Cash grant for books.
3rd Prize: €100 cash grant for books.
4th Prize: A book on peace building signed by the Ambassador and a certificate of appreciation.
5th Prize: A Certificate of Appreciation.

The Embassy will host an event in early May where selected participants will be invited to read from their essays.

A selection of essays may also be published in a short book. Any author of an essay selected for publication will be contacted in advance and will receive a copy of the publication.

Udacity Google Africa Scholarship Program 2018


Deadline: April 24, 2018

Application is open for the Udacity Google Africa Scholarship Program 2018, a web and android scholarship for residents of African countries. When applying, you will choose between learning web development or Android development. From there, once you’re accepted, you will be placed in one of two tracks (beginner or intermediate), depending on your existing skills and experience.

After that, the learning begins! Some scholarship recipients may be able to participate in an Andela Learning Community with partners from Andela. Finally, top students from each track will earn full scholarships to one of Google’s Android or Web Development Nanodegree programs.

The program takes place 100% online. You can work from wherever you want to, as long as you have access to a working internet connection. Depending on where you live, you may also choose to participate in optional in-person meet-ups with your scholarship classmates.

The winners will be selected by Udacity in its sole discretion. Judges will evaluate each Participant’s coursework in eligible courses and Nanodegree programs and select winners based on the following criteria:

Demonstrated ability to successfully complete or make substantial progress in online courses like those offered on Udacity.com
Sufficient prerequisite knowledge necessary for the programs
Review of the content of all applications will be evaluated based on the quality and thoughtfulness of their responses.

2018 FEDERAL GOVERNMENT SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS TENABLE IN NIGERIAN TERTIARY INSTITUTIONS
The Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu hereby invites applications from qualified Nigerian students in Nigerian public tertiary institutions to participate in the 2017/2018 selection interviews for scholarship awards tenable in Nigerian tertiary institutions.

Application forms are available online at www.education.gov.ng and can be completed and printed by prospective candidates for endorsement by their HOD and Registrars of their institutions.

2. ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
i. UNIVERSITY UNDERGRADUATE:
All applicants must be full-time students in their second year of study and above in Federal or State Universities, they must have a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 4.0 on a 5.0 point scale or its equivalent in the previous academic year’s examinations.

ii. HIGHER NATIONAL DILPLOMA (HND):
All applicants must be full-time students in their second year of study in any of the Federal or State Polytechnics or Monotechnics, they must have a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.5 on a 4 scale or its equivalent in the previous academic year’s examinations.

iii. NIGERIAN CERTIFICATE IN EEDUCATION (NCE):
All applicants must be full-time students in their second year of study and above in any Federal or State Colleges of Education and they must have a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.5 on a 4 point scale, or its equivalent in the previous academic year’s examinations.

iv POSTGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP:
Applicants must be registered full-time students of Federal or State universities and must have a minimum of second class Honours (Upper Division) in their 1st degree.

3. METHOD OF APPLICATION:
Completed application forms should be printed and submitted at the various interview centers alongside the following photocopies:
(i) Letter of admission to the institution
(ii) Current Course Registration Form
(iii) Student Identity Card
(iv) Last sessional CGPA result
(v) Letter of identification from State/Local Government of origin
(vi) Two passport-size photographs with name fully written at the back

Commonwealth Foundation Internship 2018 At Commonwealth Writers, London


Background
Commonwealth Writers aims to strengthen civic voice and shape public discourse through creative expression by less heard voices.

Commonwealth Writers is a cultural programme within the Commonwealth Foundation. The Foundation is an international organisation established by Heads of Government in support of the belief that the Commonwealth is as much an association of peoples as it is of governments. It is the Commonwealth agency for civil society; a unique, stand-alone organisation established by, funded and reporting to governments.

The role
We are looking for an Intern to work in the exciting arena of Commonwealth Writers. The internship will be London based and support activities of the programme, in particular the two websites, www.commonwealthwriters.org and www.addastories.org, and various projects including the Commonwealth Short Story Prize and craft development initiatives.

NNPC/TOTAL National Merit Scholarship Scheme 2017/2018


Total Upstream Nigeria Limited (TUPNI), in pursuance of its Corporate Social Responsibility, invites applications from suitably qualified Nigerians for the 2017/2018 National Merit Scholarship.

Annually, Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), and Total Upstream Companies in Nigeria (TUCN): Total Exploration & Production Nigeria Limited (Total E&P Nig Ltd) and Total Upstream Nigeria Limited (TUPNI), together with their venture partners, award scholarships to deserving Nigerian students in the tertiary institutions in the country.

NITDA Post-Graduate Scholarship Scheme 2017/2018


The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has as its mandate to develop and regulate the Information Technology in Nigeria. Developing and regulating IT will support in transforming Nigeria into an IT driven economy for global competitiveness and the dire need of digital literacy.

The Agency has since 2010 established a scholarship scheme for Masters and Doctoral degree in relevant areas of Information Technology (IT) and ICT Law obtainable in Nigerian (Government and Private) Universities.

Criteria
The scholarship award is strictly based on merit and is evenly distributed between the six geo-political zones for the PhD, 36 States and FCT for MSc.

Eligibility (Nigerians):
PhD: Only University and Polytechnic Lecturers with MSc in any Information Technology related field are eligible to apply for sponsorship.
MSc: Holders of First Class or Second Class (Upper) Honours Bachelor’s degree, in Information Technology related field and Law.

The registration period is six (6) weeks from the date of the Newspaper publication.

A comprehensive Aptitude Test(s) will be conducted to determine successful candidates for the Award. Only candidates who are found eligible will be Shortlisted.

Duration
The sponsorship for the Masters programme will run for one year and the Doctorate programme for three years.

Topic
· Accuracy and Integrity: The Unchanging ICAN Motto in a Rapidly - Changing World.

Objective
· The Essay Competition is to engage the Nigerian students intellectually and in the end
produce enlightening essays on the platform of operation of ICAN in the next 50 years in the
global professional Accountancy Practice.

Methodology
1. Essay must be written in Microsoft Word and contain not less than 2000 words and not more
than 3000 words ;and essay must be written in font size 12 with double line spacing.
2. Essay should contain abstract, introduction, main body, conclusion and references
3. All entries must be accompanied with a letter of attestation from the Head of each
participant’s Department.
4. Participants must submit copy of their birth certificate/Sworn affidavit and brief profile of not
more than 15 lines in MS Word
5. Only the first 500 entries will be considered
6. Winning essays will be selected based on content, grammar and style
7. The winning essays will be announced on Thursday 12 October 2017
8. All entries must be received on or before 23:59hours Thursday 28 September 2017. Entries
received after this date would not be processed further.

The Ekiti State Government has instituted various Scholarship and Bursary Awards for students of Ekiti State origin in the Federal, State and Private Universities in Nigeria and Overseas. Free Application forms for undergraduates and Physically Challenged undergraduate as well as Masters’ and Ph.D students categories of prospective applicants are now available at Ekiti State Scholarship Board, New Secretariat Road, Ado-Ekiti.

ELIGIBILITY:

Scholarship Award
To qualify for undergraduate Scholarship Awards (i) Applicants must be in 2nd year and above in their courses of study (ii) possess WAEC/NECO with a minimum of 4 Credits/2

passes including English Language and Mathematics at a sitting (iii) Have a minimum

Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 4.0 for the University students or the equivalent of a Second Class Upper Division, 3.5 for Polytechnics College of Education and 3.00 for NCE in

their current institutions of study.

Applicants for Masters’ Degree and Ph.D Scholarship Award must (i) possess a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2nd Class Upper at Undergraduate level; (ii) must have a distinction in the Masters’ programme which must be accompanied with a strong letter of recommendation from the University of Masters’ Degree Programme.
Physically Challenged Students in Tertiary Institutions (NCE, ND, HND and Degree Studies) are qualified for the Handicapped Scholarship Award;
Students on Part-Time studies are not qualified for the Scholarship Awards.
Bursary Awards – All undergraduates of Universities, Polytechnics Colleges of Education, Schools of Nursing and Colleges of Health Technology and other relevant tertiary institutions are eligible.
