Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, Governor of the state of Osun, has said that education is important for sustainable national development to take its course in our nation Nigeria.

The Governor while delivering his lecture as the Guest Speaker at the 6th Prince Bola Ajibola annual lecture series, organised by the Magna Curia chambers of Obafemi Awolowo University, held at the University’s Oduduwa hall in Ile-Ife, Osun State, he noted the decadence and declining state of our education in Nigeria. In his words, "Sadly, the Nigerian state today is assailed by manifold layers of insecurity and its progress is hampered by a myriad of developmental challenges all because of the continual erosion in the quality and standard of its educational system,”.

In course of the lecture, it was disclosed that the Honouree is 74 years old with countless number of Awards ranging from being the first black man to be the Chief Judge of the International Court of Justice and others too numerous to mention. It was also disclosed that the governor was born in 1957.

The Lecture had in attendance the de' la creme of the society, the Honouree himself, Justice Bola Ajibola, the executive Governor of The State of Osun State, Ogbeni Aregbeshola, the Deputy Governor of the state, the V. Texas Town Quarantined After Family Of Five Test Positive For The Ebola Virus

The small town of Purdon, Texas has been quarantined after a family of five tested positive for the Ebola virus.

Purdon is located just 70 miles from Dallas, Texas, and the hospital that has cared for both American Ebola patients, Thomas Eric Duncan, and Texas nurse, Nina Pham.

It has been verified that Jack Phillips returned from Dallas last week while on business. Shortly after arriving home, Mr. Phillips began exhibiting flu-like symptoms, but did not immediately go to the hospital. At this time his wife and children began showing similar symptoms, which provoked the family to get tested. Doctors then learned that Phillips, his wife, and three children had contracted Ebola haemorrhagic fever.

Facts About Purdon, Texas And The Ebola Quarantine
  • 133 residents
  •  Unincorporated community in Navarro County
  • Originally Known As Belle Point
  • Ebola is spread through contact with bodily fluids of an infected individual
  • Ebola has a 90% casualty rate in areas such as West Africa. In America the mortality rate is 50/50
  • Five people are confirmed to have the Ebola Virus in Pardon County
CDC quarantined the area, erecting road blocks and disallowing anyone in or out of the area
A staff member at the Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital contacted National Report with a short statement about the Ebola situation in Texas. The individual wished to remain anonymous for their own safety, and told us the following,
“As far as we know, Jack Phillis had not come in contact with neither the late Thomas Duncan or Mrs. Phan. It is perhaps possible that he was within a close proximity of the infected parties, but it is otherwise unknown as to how Phillips was infected with Ebola.

The CDC wasted no time sealing up the rest of the town’s denizens, and has stopped all traffic entering and exiting Purdon, TX. As of 10 Pm, Oct. 13th area has been surrounded with police and CDC officials. Communications with the locals seems to have been cut off, and press is currently awaiting an official statement from local authorities.

UPDATE: The U.S. Department of State has issued a travel

Breech Of Agreement Led To Coca-Cola Concert Shutdown

REPORT: Coke Studio Bus Tour OAU Edition.

On behalf of the Students’ Union Social Committee, I want to appreciate OAU Students who came for the Coke Studio Africa Concert that held at the Sports Hall Car Park yesterday Friday 10th October 2014. I also want to thank the students for comporting themselves and being good ambassadors of the school. Thanks to the OAU Artistes, the Ushers and Security Body that ensured that the event was a success.

Coke Studio Bus Tour is a musical entertainment concert that aims at promoting talented student artistes on campuses.
The idea was to pick the best 10 talents in the school that would be given the opportunity “to perform on the day of the concert alongside any of our A-List artistes, the most talented ones will have the opportunity to drop their voices in our studio under the supervision of our studio manager” (quote from Coke Studio proposal).

Unfortunately, the organizers of the event failed in fulfilling their promise as changes were made to the entire plan at the last minute without informing the social committee. Only three Artistes were chosen and only some of the benefits were accorded to them. The concert was not supposed to be all about Coca-Cola and the A-List artistes alone but also about the talented students that were to be chosen. The A-List artistes were to be a spice and add color to the concert and not overshadow the upcoming artistes.

It was due to the breech of agreement that led to the shutdown of the concert by the Social Committee during the last performance. Obafemi Awolowo University is for Learning and Culture and the Students’ Union stands to moderate and correct any Organization or Body that disrespects the norms and culture of our prestigious university.
