Some big names in the media and leadership sphere of Nigeria will be visiting the Obafemi Awolowo University on the 20th-21st of January, 2017 as the All Times Group in partnership with the Division of Students Affairs of the Obafemi Awolowo University will be organising an Entrepreneurial-Leadership Conference.
The programme is designed to help empower undergraduates through the Heritage Bank Entrepreneurship Programme.

Season greetings! Congratulations to those who have been offered admission already and will resume next semester (2016/2017 academic session). For those who couldn't make it for one reason or the other, i'll say you shouldn't give up on your pursuit. Nothing should stop you this time.
We have found it very necessary to put this up owning to several ugly situations reported to us by applicants who applied to the Obafemi Awolowo University for admission last year; even when some applicants beat the cut-off marks for their proposed departments hands down, they were denied admission because of wrong subject combination.

So, please read carefully the UTME subjects and O'level subjects required for admission into various department in OAU.
Undergraduate Studies
Applicants seeking admission to Part I (First Year) of a degree course in the University must be qualified for admission before the beginning of the session in which they wish to enter. The applicants must meet both:
1. the general entrance requirements, and
2. additional Faculty or Departmental course requirements.
Students intending to enter the University are advised to obtain information from the University about entry requirements to ensure that they have satisfied the requirements by the time they apply for admission.
General Entrance Requirements
The minimum entry requirements to the first year is a General Certificate of Education (or equivalent) with Credit passes in at least five subjects chosen from a list approved from time to time by Senate provided that in each case all the five subjects are taken and passed at not more than two sittings.
1. One of the passes shall be a pass at ‘O’ Level or equivalent in English Language.
2. Except in the cases of candidate for admission to the Faculty of Arts, the Faculty of Law, and for the Bachelor of Arts in Education in the Faculty of Education, one of the credit passes shall be a pass at ‘O’ Level or equivalent in Mathematics.
3. A pass in the General Paper of the Higher School Certificate is regarded as equivalent to a credit pass in English Language at ‘O’ Level.

In addition to satisfying the minimum requirements indicated in regulations 1 and 2 above, candidates for the courses listed below must, among the five subjects presented in fulfilment of minimum requirements, also include the subjects and satisfy the other requirements indicated. It may be assumed that further requirements are not imposed for any degree course not shown in the following list.

4.0 CRITERIA FOR ELIGIBILITY
A. UNDERGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP: All applicants for
undergraduate degree courses must possess a minimum qualification of Five (5) Distinctions (As & Bs) in the Senior Secoundary School Certificate, WAEC (May/June) only in the subjects relevant to their fields of study including English Language and Mathematics. Certificates should not be more than Two (2) years old (2015 & 2016). Age limit is from 18 to 20 years.
B. POSTGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP: All applicants must hold a First Degree with at least 2nd Class Upper Division. The applicants who are previous recipients of Foreign Awards must have completed at least two (2) years post qualification or employment practice in Nigeria. All applicants must have completed N.Y.S.C. Age limit is 35 years for Masters and 40 years for Ph.D.
NOTE (For all Applicants):
i) Since the BEA countries are non-English speaking, applicants should be prepared to undertake a mandatory one year foreign language of the country of choice which will be the standard medium of instruction; and
ii)All applicants for Hungarian Scholarship must visit the website: www.stipenumhungaricum.hu before 1st February 2017 to Complete the application form online
Print the completed form and bring to the venue inaddition to 2.0
above.
5.0 VENUE OF INTERVIEW: All eligible applicants are to report for interview at the venues scheduled for their respective Zones of origin for proper identification.
Two sets of completed application forms should be submitted at the various interview centres with the following attachments:
i. Two sets of Photocopies of Educational Certificates and Testimonials of previous schools attended with the originals for sighting;
ii. Only one certificate is accepted i.e WAEC of May/June;
iii. Two copies of Birth certificate from National Population
Commission;
iv. State of Origin/LGA certificate duly signed, stamped and dated;
v. Four (4) colourede passport sized photographs on white background;
and
vi. Postgraduate applicants will be required to submit Academic transcripts and NYSC certificates.
NB: Candidates nominated by the Board will be required to submit the following:
i) Authenticated copies of academic certificates;
ii) Data page of current International passport,;
iii) Specified Medical Reports from Government Hospitals; and
iv) Police clearance certificate where necessary.

Previous editions of the thanksgiving service have witnessed the presence of the Spiritual leader of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor E. A. Adeboye. However, with the current issue on leadership structure in the church, caused by the federal government's Financial Reporting Council Act implementation, the cleric's presence this time is highly doubtful.

FG Appoints New OAU Governing Council

The councils of the two universities were sacked recently following some crises in the two schools. Education minister, Malam Adamu Adamu announced the appointments in a statement on Friday. He said the new governing councils would serve for a term of four years, in the first instance, with effect from December 28, 2016.
Other members of the OAU council area Prof Felix U. Madubuike, Mr. Inowei Akono, Mr. Adekunle Sanni and Muhammad Bello Kaoje.
Yemi Ogunbiyi founding chairman of Tanus Communications, once served as the Managing Director of Daily Times of Nigeria. He received his secondary education from the Ibadan Boys High School and later went to University of Ibadan where he studied English Literature. He then went to New York University for his Masters degree.

Together with Kole Omotosho, Biodun Jeyifo, Wole Soyinka, Mr. Ogunbiyi was part of the drama and literature department of University of Ife, later renamed Obafemi Awolowo University. He then served as an Executive Director of the Guardian Newspapers In Charge of Public Affairs and Marketing. He serves as a Member of Global Advisory Board at Repro India Limited.
According to his profile published by Bloomberg, Ogunbiyi was a Lecturer at Brooklyn College in the United States after his university education. He returned to Nigeria in the late 1970s and taught at Ife. He has written a few books on African literature. He edited the book, “Drama and Theatre in Nigeria: A Critical Source Book” a comprehensive work on Nigerian drama. The entries in the book included various drama articles from the Nigeria Magazine which were becoming sparse and expensive at the time.

Departmental Presidents, Faculty Leaders, Class Representatives Gather At iLead Summit
It was a gathering of dignitaries on Saturday, 7th January 2017 at the Conference room of the Hotel De Treasure, Ile-Ife as Class Representatives, Executives of Departmental Associations, Executives of Student Associations and Unions and other Leadership enthusiasts gathered for the Campus Young Leaders Summit and Breakfast (1).
The programme, which was powered by Lifeport, began some minutes past 9:00 am with breakfast and started officially at about 9:30 am. The Keynote speaker of the event, Professor Sola Akinnrinade; Pioneer Vice-Chancellor of the Osun State University and current provost of the Anti-corruption Academy of Nigeria, ICPC, Abuja, in his address enlightened the audience on the fundamentals of Leadership, challenging the leaders present to work towards being the ideal leader.

Mr Mathew Oluwaniyi, coordinator of Lifeport further challenged the leaders, in his speech, to be more than just office holders as leadership transcended merely holding offices. In his words, he admonished the leaders present to be “leaders without boundaries”.

The keynote speaker, Professor Akinnrinade, then came back to speak to the audience on the topic; Integrity Imperative of Leadership. In the workshop, Professor Akinnrinade, shed more light on the morality and legality of human actions and their relationship with a person’s integrity. Quoting C.S Lewis, the former Dean of the Faculty of Arts, OAU, defined Integrity as; “Doing what is right even when no one is watching”. The programme came to a close at some minutes past 1:00pm.
