Dear OAU Prospectives, Before You Apply For The 2017 UTME, Please Read This

Season greetings! Congratulations to those who have been offered admission already and will resume next semester (2016/2017 academic session). For those who couldn't make it for one reason or the other, i'll say you shouldn't give up on your pursuit. Nothing should stop you this time.

We have found it very necessary to put this up owning to several ugly situations reported to us by applicants who applied to the Obafemi Awolowo University for admission last year; even when some applicants beat the cut-off marks for their proposed departments hands down, they were denied admission because of wrong subject combination.

So, please read carefully the UTME subjects and O'level subjects required for admission into various department in OAU.

Undergraduate Studies
Applicants seeking admission to Part I (First Year) of a degree course in the University must be qualified for admission before the beginning of the session in which they wish to enter. The applicants must meet both:

1. the general entrance requirements, and
2. additional Faculty or Departmental course requirements.

Students intending to enter the University are advised to obtain information from the University about entry requirements to ensure that they have satisfied the requirements by the time they apply for admission.

General Entrance Requirements
The minimum entry requirements to the first year is a General Certificate of Education (or equivalent) with Credit passes in at least five subjects chosen from a list approved from time to time by Senate provided that in each case all the five subjects are taken and passed at not more than two sittings.

1. One of the passes shall be a pass at ‘O’ Level or equivalent in English Language.
2. Except in the cases of candidate for admission to the Faculty of Arts, the Faculty of Law, and for the Bachelor of Arts in Education in the Faculty of Education, one of the credit passes shall be a pass at ‘O’ Level or equivalent in Mathematics.
3. A pass in the General Paper of the Higher School Certificate is regarded as equivalent to a credit pass in English Language at ‘O’ Level.

In addition to satisfying the minimum requirements indicated in regulations 1 and 2 above, candidates for the courses listed below must, among the five subjects presented in fulfilment of minimum requirements, also include the subjects and satisfy the other requirements indicated. It may be assumed that further requirements are not imposed for any degree course not shown in the following list.

Don't hesitate to drop your questions if you have any.

Goodluck!!

    Accounting?

You could please say that again.. What about people who did the right thing, combination, scored up to cutoff and didn't get anything still..
I haven't still understood very well yet, why OAU closed their admission and released just one list. They should be able to explain that. Except if some wrong things were done under neath, to the extent that people who still qualified couldn't get any course at leastt. Does it mean OAU is now for those who are tooo intelligent and not more for average students also, that only merit list got released.
Or something was done somehow and qualified student names got remove.
The last time I checked, average students also deserve to be admitted and not the way they pushed people away.

    1. I think the definition of "wouldn't be easy" is the competition of courses applied for, not the school just showing up out of nowhere without any prior information and figuratively telling the remaining aspirants to go to hell with their scores and come back next jamb for reasons not known
