By Adesina Ayomide Emmanuel

National Association of Students Of Religious Studies has impeached the General Secretary of the association, suspended the President and the Treasurer respectively.

On Friday 16th of April, 2021, there was a gathering. The president of the association, Abdul-lateef Mustopha Opeyemi was suspended for three weeks on the basis that he was trying to cover up for the General Secretary Enughu Joella who has not been available since the beginning of the semester. He claimed that the General Secretary sent a letter to the Executive Council.  Save the treasurer, the rest of the executives maintained that they had no knowledge of the letter.

The president claimed that the General Secretary handed over officially to his Assistant General Secretary Ojo Jeremiah who denied the claimed in the presence of the congress Men and Women that he was not handed any official letter.

This made Congress Men and Women to be furious with the President and the Treasurer for trying to cover up for the General Secretary without any proof. The motion for the impeachment of the General Secretary was moved by Honorable Temi representing Part 2 constituency  and seconded by Comrade Luwa.

Honorable Temi also moved a motion that the President be suspended indefinitely and it was seconded by Honorable Emperor.
However, there was countered with a motion from Comrade Luwa that the President and the Treasurer be suspended for three weeks. After this, they decided that a committee contesting of Part 4 students would be set up to verify the claims of the President and the treasurer.

The Vice- president Oke- Funmilayo has been ordered to assume the post of the President Constitutionally while the Assistant General Secretary Ojo Jeremiah assumed the post of the General Secretary.
