Pastor E. A. Adeboye Bags OAU Honorary Doctorate Degree

Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, has been conferred with an honorary doctorate degree by the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife.

The award was conferred on Adeboye during the 41st Special Convocation held at the Oduduwa Hall of the OAU, Ile-Ife on Friday.

Adeboye, an alumnus of the OAU, said the award would spur him to contribute more to the development of the university.

According to him, the award should serve as a lesson to everyone not to look down on anybody.

According to him, what is impossible with men are possible for God that is why one should never write off anybody.

He added that when the late Oba Adesoji Aderemi was given an honorary award by this university, “I said to my friends that one day, I too will like to get an honorary award of this university.

“My friends laughed and said if it is something that can be worked for, he has no doubt that I will get it because I am hardworking and brilliant.

“He said honorary award of this kind is only given to people of high class.

“But today, a special convocation is holding to award an honorary doctorate to the ordinary person of that time.

“I am not given this particular award today because of my scholastic work in academics.

“The only reason why the Senate of this university set today apart is because God wants to make a dream possible.

“I have several honorary awards from different universities both within and outside the country, but I waited for this one. God has made a dream come to pass.

“I got my Bachelor Degree in this school and I was committed before; now I will be more committed to the well-being of the university.”

OAU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Bamitale Omole, who also spoke, said that with God’s intervention the university was able to overcome many of its challenges.

He said that God’s intervention remained a major drive for the university’s growth.

“Although we have challenges, God has been faithful to us.

“I pray that God that has seen OAU through challenges for so many years won’t leave it,” he said.

Couple Runs Stark Naked In OAU

A male and female, probably a couple, were seen running stark naked towards the Road one gate of Obafemi Awolowo University this evening.

At about 4:45pm when academic activities were been rounded off in the institution and students and workers are trying to find their ways back to their various domains, a couple coming towards the gate parked a motorcycle just by the bridge before the mini entry to Maintenance Hostel, removed their clothes and ran at top speed towards the gate. A few bike men stopped to maybe help but the couple who had obviously turned it to a competition ran side by side at top speed.

A lot of speculations have been made. Some feel the couple ran mad at that point, some people have speculated it could be 'magun' (a yoruba medicine for unfaithful spouses) because they were eventually seen making out at the school gate before they were separated.

As at the time of filing this report, the couple has been carried away but we have not received any official statement as to the reason(s) behind such an unusual action.

Dozens Of Student Cultists Surrender In OAU During Adeboye’s Ministration

No fewer than 15 students of Obafemi Awolowo University who are involved in cultism have surrendered and renounced their membership in the course of the ministration of the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor E. A. Adeboye.

The 2016 edition of the annual University Thanksgiving Service and maiden Holy Ghost Night for the youths held yesterday at the new Crusade Ground of the institution and had Pastor Adeboye minster during the evening session. The minister who spoke on the topic: ‘The right hand of the Lord’ mentioned seven powerful characteristics of the right hand of God. He said the Power of God is qualitative, quantitative, defiles time, creative, defiles space, defiles the laws of nature and that it surpasses other powers.

Following the altar call where those willing to give their lives to Christ were called to the front space and prayed for, the cleric further made a call to students who have joined and are members of any cultist group to come out and surrender to God and embrace the most powerful power which is that of God.

“If you have been deceived into joining a cult, now you know that there is power beyond ordinary powers and you want to say bye bye to the devil and come completely clean, I will love to pray for you tonight that any evil covenant you have entered be destroyed.” Adeboye said.

The cultists including male and female students numbering over fifteen (15) rushed to the space provided for them following the call and were prayed for by the minister. This edition of the programme is the fifth and the last for the Professor Bamitale Omole-led administration of the institution. A new Vice Chancellor is expected to emerge sometimes during the middle of the year.
