You can now login to the OAU e-portal with:

Username - UTME number
Password - Surname

PROCEDURE FOR PAYMENT OF FEES(Acceptance, Main Fees & Accommodation)

All payments MUST be initated from the University PORTAL by clicking on "PAYMENT OF FEES" from student's Home Page to download PAYMENT SLIP for each type of payments you want to make i.e. separate PAYMENT SLIP for Acceptance, MainFees and Accomodation (optional). The University PORTAL will determine the type of payments available for you. For example, if you are granted a BEDSPACE, Accommodation fee will authomatically appear. Please do not pay for accomodation until you have secured a BEDSPACE on the NET as such payment will not be refunded.

Present 2 copies of the printed PAYMENT SLIP to any branch of the Bank you select on the PORTAL for payment. It is expected that Bank will collect a copy while you keep a copy for yourself after stamping by Bank. PLEASE NO PAYMENT WILL BE ACCEPTED IN ANY BRANCH OF BANKS IN OAU CAMPUS.

PROCEDURE FOR ONLINE SCREENING

Upload your digital passport photograph of dimension 360 X 400 Pixels (10cm X 11cm) in JPEG format with Skye Blue background. Maximum size of 50 KB.
Upload your digital signature of dimension 110 X 44 Pixels (3cm X 1cm) in JPEG format with white background. Maximum size of 3 KB
Verification of your Particulars. You will be required to correct any error discovered
Load your certificates details online
Scan your certificates including your Birth Certificate in JPEG format and upload them
Upon successful completion of (i) - (v) above, the system will allow you to print your SCREENING CERTIFICATE if you meet the screening requirements. You will later submit it with the photocopies of your credentials including Birth Certificate to your Faculty Secretary in order to activate you for issuance of Matriculation Number. If your ONLINE Screening is NOT successful, report with your credentials to your Faculty Secretary for further screening.

Download the following items for your use and complete the Medical forms for submission at the Health Centre for your medical registration. The items are:- OAU ROAD MAP, 2013/2014 HARMATTAN SEMESTER LECTURE TIME-TABLE, ENTRANCE MEDICAL EXAMINATION FORM, HEALTH QUESTIONARE, UNIVERSITY EXAMINATION REGULATIONS, LIBRARY INFORMATION and SPORTS REGULATION.

Is Goodluck Jonathan Good Enough For The Mo Ibrahim Prize?

VENTURES AFRICA – A couple of days ago, African business mogul, Mo Ibrahim, lavished praises on Nigeria’s outgoing president, Goodluck Jonathan, for delivering on his promise of a free and fair presidential election, and honourably accepting the outcome even as it was his defeat. This special recognition of Jonathan by the proprietor of the Mo Ibrahim foundation has raised the possibility of the Nigerian president receiving the renowned Mo Ibrahim prize for governance.

The Mo Ibrahim prize celebrates African heads of government who perform creditably in office and do not seek to entrench themselves in power. It grants the recipient $5million over ten years and guarantees a life time payment of $200,000 thereafter. The most recent winner of the prize is Namibia’s former president Hifikepunye Pohamba, international acclaimed for strengthening his country’s democratic values and socio-economic equality. President Jonathan, by ensuring credible polls, submitting to its outcome albeit against him, certifies the basic criteria for the award.

While the outgoing president stands out in enabling, or, at least, not inhibiting, the advancement of Nigeria’s electoral culture, he struggled to achieve the same impact in several other sectors of the society. These sectors- primarily the economy and security– constitute the factors that may deny him Mo Ibrahim’s bounty, if he were to be considered.

President Jonathan’s rebasing of the economy, which revealed Nigeria as Africa’s largest by GDP, helped scale up investor interest in the country. However, despite the increased flow of foreign direct investment, his government was unable to match economic growth with development. His government is accused of wastefulness and profligacy, evidence of which is its inability make good of savings during the years of oil boom. Jonathan’s image is also hard hit by allegations of corruption involving members of his cabinet, as well as parastatals and corporations under his executive purview. These issues, joined by the unsolved problem of power, massive unemployment, and widening socio-economic inequality, deny him the economic legacy that would have pushed his case for the Mo Ibrahim prize.

As with the economy, Goodluck, despite pouring in a good amount of money, struggled to develop the security apparatus of the country in the face of a spike in terrorism and incessant kidnapping. His government’s inability to ensure peace and stability, as well as accusations of its insensitivity to the plight of victims of terror, like the Chibok girls, led to popular disaffection against his rule. As proven by his defeat at the polls, not even the military’s recent triumphs against the boko haram militants has shed the perception of him as an inept president. However, while Jonathan’s inability to rein in the insecurity in the land will be a stumbling block to his consideration for the Mo Ibrahim prize, his calm reaction to the result of the tense election and strong invocation for his supporters to accept the victory of his rival, averted a post-election violence–in the scale of 2011, and made him a legend in Nigeria’s history books. This singular act is Jonathan’s biggest propellant for the prize. But will it be enough?

Although President Jonathan has received local and international praise for his election acts, it is improbable that it will win him the award. The Mo Ibrahim Foundation has a reputation of awarding its prize to leaders with salient and incontrovertible record of good and effective governance, the reason only five leaders have received the prize in its 9 years of existence. Picking Jonathan would be so controversial, it could hurt the credibility of the prize.

Technical Issues Force Accommodation Request Exercise To Be Re-scheduled

A CONFIRMED report just reaching us now from the Division of Student Affairs has it that the accommodation request exercise for newly admitted students of Obafemi Awolowo University for 2014/2015 session earlier scheduled for today will no longer hold due to technical issues. It has now been re-scheduled for Tuesday 7th April, 2015 as from 10am.

It is expected that the date for accommodation request by finalists will remain 30th April, 2015.

President Jonathan Releases Statement On 2015 Presidential Election Result

Fellow Nigerians,

I thank you all for turning out en-masse for the March 28 General Elections.

I promised the country free and fair elections. I have kept my word. I have also expanded the space for Nigerians to participate in the democratic process. That is one legacy I will like to see endure.

Although some people have expressed mixed feelings about the results announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), I urge those who may feel aggrieved to follow due process based on our constitution and our electoral laws, in seeking redress.

As I have always affirmed, nobody’s ambition is worth the blood of any Nigerian. The unity, stability and progress of our dear country is more important than anything else.

I congratulate all Nigerians for successfully going through the process of the March 28th General Elections with the commendable enthusiasm and commitment that was demonstrated nationwide.

I also commend the Security Services for their role in ensuring that the elections were mostly peaceful and violence-free.

To my colleagues in the PDP, I thank you for your support. Today, the PDP should be celebrating rather than mourning. We have established a legacy of democratic freedom, transparency, economic growth and free and fair elections.

For the past 16 years, we have steered the country away from ethnic and regional politics. We created a Pan-Nigerian political party and brought home to our people the realities of economic development and social transformation.

Through patriotism and diligence, we have built the biggest and most patriotic party in Nigerian history. We must stand together as a party and look to the future with renewed optimism.

I thank all Nigerians once again for the great opportunity I was given to lead this country and assure you that I will continue to do my best at the helm of national affairs until the end of my tenure.

I have conveyed my personal best wishes to General Muhammadu Buhari.

May God Almighty continue to bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

2015 General Elections; A Momentous Feat For Our Democracy

2015 GENERAL ELECTIONS; A MOMENTOUS FEAT FOR OUR DEMOCRACY!

Congratulations to the people's General Muhammadu Buhari on his victory in the 2015 #NigeriaDecides. He has taught me and many other Nigerian youths the essence of resilience and doggedness in pursuit of success and excellence. I have been bothered and I remain bordered about the 'old wine in new skin' who surround #GMB. These ones are dangerous creatures in sheep clothings who are more than capable of turning Buhari against the masses in record time. Sai baba needs to be very careful!

Hmmm, I do not really know how best to describe President Goodluck Jonathan now but with all sincerity and honesty of heart, the much needed foundation for our democratic setting has been laid today. Big thanks to #PGEJ. Despite all odds, I will remember Jonathan for giving us relatively free & fair elections and passing the #FOI bill into law. These amongst many other things he gave us. I personally laughed when you said your ambition is not worth the blood of any Nigerian, but I was shocked when I heard he called the General even before the final result announcement. All I can say for now is God bless you Mr President and I wish you God's best in your future endeavour.

...and to the real victors of today, we Nigerians! I celebrate with my fellow patriots who gallantly stood by and remained undaunted in the agitation and pursuit for democratic manifestations. You voted and your votes counted real good for the very first time. Congratulations #Nigeria.

If there is a request I wish to make now from Nigerians this day, it is, that the feat of our democracy that has been achieved tonight must be fervently and jealously sustained by us at all cost. Let these leaders know that your Voter Card is now permanent. Like the Yorubas will say 'Pason ti a fi na iyale n be lori aja fun iyawo' meaning 'the cane we used in flogging the first wife is still on the ceiling for the second wife'.

Finally, I proudly join numerous Nigerians today to celebrate the success of our democracy. I now hope the preachers of division and violence in Nigeria in 2015 (including US) can now eat humble pie. I am indeed very glad we will start getting it right from now on.

Release On 2014/2015 Session Accommodation For Freshers & Stalites

RELEASE ON ACCOMMODATION FOR 2014/2015 SESSION

Newly admitted students in OAU are to request for bed spaces on the University's e-portal as from 10 am on Saturday 4th April, 2015.

Prospective final year students in all Faculties except (Clinical and Dentistry) interested in residing in the Halls of Residence in the coming 2014/2015 academic session are to apply for bed spaces on the e-portal on Thursday 30th April, 2015.

This will be based on first come first served.

Preferential accommodation application must be submitted @ DSA on or before Friday 24th April, 2015 along with a signed letter from the Director, Medical and Health Services.

Final year students who are interested in double bedded accommodation are to apply through appropriate Hall Wardens.

A date for balloting (if any) shall be communicated as soon as possible.
