ITU Telecom Young Innovators Competition Seeks Solutions To Climate Change
ITU Telecom World Young Innovators Competition has launched a Challenge on Smart Cities and Climate Change in partnership with the World Health Organization (WHO), seeking innovative ideas on how information and communication technologies (ICT) can help smart cities mitigate or slow down the effects of climate change, in particular in the area of global health. Two winning entries will be showcased at ITU Telecom World 2014, the leading platform for debate, knowledge-sharing and networking for the global ICT community, in Doha, Qatar, 7-10 December 2014. The Challenge calls for young people around the world to work together on concepts for new and innovative social start-ups within the field of smart cities to help future communities adapt to or reduce climate change.
This might include, for example, new technologies, novel combinations of existing technologies, services and systems, physical devices such as smart grids, software such as big data processing, or services such as community building programmes. Following the close of the competition on 7 October, two finalists will be selected to join ITU Telecom World 2014 in Doha this December, where they will pitch their ideas before industry leaders and national governments, participate in workshops, benefit from a year of ongoing mentorship, and win up to USD 5000 in seed funding.

Sensitization Seminar On Ebola Recorded Low Student Turnout
The seminar which was held at the Afrika Amphi Theatre saw less than 2000 students in attendance out of over 20,000 of OAU. The continuation of lectures even after the University Authority declared the period of 10:00am-12:00noon a lecture free period was attributed by many as the reason for the low turnout.
The Seminar saw some guest lecturers educate the students on the deadly Ebola virus and ways students can prevent contacting it in case of any eventuality. One major question was raised by a student on the popular red water which is sometimes served to the student Hall of Residence. Concerns on the Red water was doused as students were assured of the safeness of the water for use. "The red colour is due to the high Iron content in it but I can assure you it is very safe for use. We are also working on it to make it look good soon." the speaker answered.

Botany Students' Christian Fellowship Wishes All A Happy New Month
HAPPY NEW MONTH OF SEPTEMBER
As we launch into the great month of September, here is God’s Words for you;
Ezekiel 47:12 “And by the river upon the bank thereof, on this side and on that side, shall grow all trees for meat, whose leaf shall not fade, neither shall the fruit thereof be consumed: it shall bring forth new fruit according to his months, because their waters they issued out of the sanctuary: and the fruit thereof shall be for meat, and the leaf thereof for medicine”
This is very simple! What the Lord is telling you this new month of September are:
1.) That dry land of yours shall flow rivers of living water.
2.) It shall bring forth trees for meat: The sustenance you need for the month of September and beyond, both academically, spiritually, financially and other wise has been taken care of by the Lord.
3.) The leaf of the tree shall not fade: The provisions of God for you this month will neither diminish nor cease.
4.) It shall bring forth new fruit according to his months: Instead of God’s provisions being used up as the month fades out, No! It will continue to multiply and increase in geometrical progression because where it is coming from is sacred and special.
5.) The leaf thereof for medicine: There will not only be new provisions but also the healing of your past and every abnormality of yours are set to be corrected and healed completely!
PLEASE NOTE:
For any of God’s promise to be exclusively enjoyed, you have to be his child and diligently hearken to his words. With that, you can be sure of that expected end for you and your family. Mucha Gracias!
