Regulation Of Price List Not Connected To Town-Igboro Strike: Transport Management Commission
The transportation management commission has debunked the rumour that the strike of the Town-Igboro drivers on 14th, February 2023 is connected with the regulation of transportation prices.
In what seems to be a rumour that the Town-Igboro drivers won't be working on 14th, February 2023 seems to be confirmed to OAUPeeps News Agency by the transport management commission.
Speaking to our correspondent, Hon. Sumbade Jnr the General Secretary of the commission confirmed the rumour but plans are on. He also made clarification that the strike is not connected to the price regulation.

The Transport management committee of the Great Ife Students' Union under the Chairmanship of Hon. Sir tee has a provided an update on transportation prices.
Recall that the sabo-lagere has earlier increased the price list of buses plying town-campus due to the scarcity and increase in fuel price.
However, in a Press Statement made available to OAUPeeps News Agency, the commission condemned the sudden increase of the transportation price. In performing the duty given to them by the Union which is to protect student welfarism in respect to transportation, swing into actions and had several meetings with the transporters which yielded positive results.
According to the release from the commission, Bus stop-Mayfair-Ap-Legere-Sabo will be #100, Bus stop-gate will be #50 whole Bus stop - Hall of residence will be #30 and the prices of bikes return to normal respectively and the prices start to take effect from Monday, 13th February 2023.

A Year After The Loss Of Heritage Ajibola, Mantainance Resident Take To Social Media To Narrate Their Ordeals, And Address Students Union As All Talk And No Bite

A resident of the popular private hostels, mantainance hostels owned by private individuals has taken to her Twitter page to narrate the ordeals faced by the residents of the hostel.
In this same vien, taking to her twitter page, Toriaforall said it's over 9months in which the hostel that houses greater population of the female students of Obafemi Awolowo University has been in blackout and the famale students has been subjected to gross maltreatment under the nose of the school management and nothing has been done about it. She further stated that despite numerous tiring protest, reports and daily-dallying, they have constantly been fed wth lies and stories that never seems to end.
Speaking on the issue of epelitic power and water supply experienced by the residents of the hostel, she wrote that the reason why most of them moved to the hostel was because of 24 hours of light and water supply which was in the tenancy agreement that they signed. According to her, businesses have shut down and they have to through series of harassment just to change their devices and they go through rigorous torture of having to drag buckets of water up in the staircase multiple times a day which lead to sickness and the hostels developer who charge hefty and ridiculous amount of naira for a bedspace have been complacent and dormants about the situations.
Stressing her fact, she addresses the union as all talk and no bite despite all what they are facing ranging from the purchase of faulty transformer and stories of embezzlement. She further stated that out of 17 hostels, 12hostels have lights. Naming the hostels concerned, she named Ajike hostel owned by Rushmore ltd, Bver hostel owned by Bver hostels and suites, Aquifer hostel owned by Aquifer hostels and suites and Aderonke hostel owned by OAU int'l school.

ACJOAU Wins Pen Club Award, One Other At CJA 2022

The Association of Campus Journalists, Obafemi Awolowo University, ACJOAU has won the Pen Club award at the Campus Journalists Award organized by Youth Digest to celebrate its fifth anniversary.
The award ceremony took place in Abuja on Saturday, December 10, 2022.
Alongside the Association, Latinwo Gbolahan emerged winner in the Gender Equality Category while Faith Alofe; Features Writing Category, and Zainab Adewale; Upcoming Writer Category were also first runner-up in their respective categories.
Reacting to this development, the President of ACJOAU, Faith Alofe said, “I am happy that we are able to achieve this feat especially when I am the President. The Association has proven to be an outstanding campus journalism outfit.
Even though we couldn’t win some other categories we were nominated for, I am sure we would remain focused. There are still awards we would win and I am really glad about this.
I thank the members of the executive council and the members of the association for their diligence and support. I am indeed grateful.”
Also, Latinwo Gbolahan expressed that his joy knows no bounds when he emerged as the winner of the Gender Equality category. He further said, “I am so happy for winning this category because I didn’t see it coming. Many people believe that only women should write or tell stories about gender equality, which is not supposed to be so. It’s called Gender Equality for a reason. The male and female gender should be carried along together.”
Recall that two ACJOAU members, Ajibade Abdullah Adewale and Latinwo Gbolahan were nominated for the Photojournalist and News Reporter categories for the same award in 2021.
