Ogunbodede Seeks Aeronautical Engineering Programme For OAU

A high powered delegation from the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has paid avisit to the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Eyitope Ogunbodede to fine-tune and deepen the existing Memorandum of Understanding(MoU) on capacity building between the NAF and the University, as well as collaboration with the University in other mutually beneficial areas.

In his welcome remarks, Professor Ogunbodede, while receiving the team led by Air Vice Marshal Kingsley Lar,Chief of Standard and Evaluation, NAF, Headquarters, expressed delight at the confidence reposed in the University by the NAF, and commended the Forcefor coming up with the innovative idea.

The VC while pledging his administration’s commitment to the full implementation to the (MoU) between the University and the NAF, conceded that OAU has done little to fulfil its own part of the MoU, and therefore promised a renewed focus on the agreement.
“When I came on board, I learnt of the MoU. But we have not been able to do much on it. But now, I want to let you know that after this meeting, we will fulfil our part of the agreement and the project will definitely move on. Whatever capacity we need to build to take the project (MoU) forward, we will definitely build and get there,” the VC said.

He also used the medium to solicit for support from the NAF to start Aeronautical engineering programme in the University, even as he called for collaborations in other areas in the University.
“In OAU we need to have a programme in Aeronautical Engineering and make sure it is the best in Africa. But we will need your support for personnel and staffing. I also believe that there are other several ways that we can partner.”, he asserted further.
Earlier, the Leader of the delegation, Air Vice Marshal Kingsley Lar, in his remarks said the MoU was in line with the vision of the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadiq Abubakar to ‘transform NAF into a self-reliant and highly professional fighting force. NAF desires to see things we can get from the academics; to leverage on the pool of capabilities and facilities available in your institution.”
He therefore called on the University to take the lead among other institutions, in full implementation of the MoUstating that the NAF is committed to research and development through its recent achievements in science and technology.

Ibadan Girls Will Call It “Fargin”

By ‘Joba Ojelabi

In any historical documentation, one major highlight of the social media, especially in Nigeria, must certainly be memes. The art of fusing a picture with witty words in such a fashion that makes it difficult to not smile at its sight has become so sacred that it now forms a major highlight of social media communication. However comparatively, the art does not come with a lot of financial remunerative benefits yet. Hopefully, it would soon enough, who knows? Maybe Odunlade Adekola might finally make that list of the top richest artists in the country. However, apart from the Yoruba actor, another class of people that often suffer the wrath of these memes are the Ibadan people. Due to the peculiarity of their pronunciations of English words, which is of course often an aftermath of some adaptations of the elements of the local dialect. Some of such instances include the pronunciation of the “sh”, “z” and similar sounds as “s” and “v” as “f”.

Indeed, every language does leave its own accent on the English language but somehow, the Ibadan accent just manages to stand out in a way that is quite comical and so when Teniola Apata dares to make her new song on the premise of this peculiar accent, one is tempted to wonder what the fast rising music act is up to.

Fargin as a word can be confusing. I doubt that such a word even exists in English or any major language. It is therefore not totally surprising that for many, only listening to the song can actually reveal the meaning of its title. Yes, “Fargin” is Ibadan for Virgin. Although a number of Nigerian artistes have made good music using local dialects and accents, with Falz and Olamide being some names that readily come to mind, unlike them, Teni’s Fargin comes off with a more innocent feel. Firstly, because unlike most other users, Teni is not a rapper! And secondly, because of the message of the song.

The theme of the song is the age-long one of sexual abstinence. Yes, the type Onyeka Onwenu sang with King Sunny Ade and a fine number of other artistes have also sang about since. Interestingly, one might find this quite ironical upon learning that Teniola is sister to Niniola: Yes, the same Niniola; who don't need no liquor and almost never forgets to tell us of waistlines and philistine lollipops in her songs. Listening closely to the song would reveal to any true fan the influences of Adewale Ayuba on the young Teni as the song at some point almost begins to sound like a response to the 2007 “Omoge Cinderella” track on Ayuba’s “Ijo Fuji” album. On Fargin, Teni also manages to switch to English and Pidgin conveniently, delivering her lyrics on Mystro’s highlife beat, giving the song the absolute Nigerian vibe. Surprisingly, Teni is not from Ibadan, at least not by origin, because after listening to her for almost three minutes, I doubt that even the Ibadan people would deny her a home in the city of brown roofs.

VC Leads Management Team To Moro Campus

The Centre for Distance Learning (CDL), Moro, has played host to the Management team of the University, led by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Eyitope Ogunbodede, visiting the campus in official capacity for the first time since assuming duty.
An elated and apparently impressed Professor Ogunbodede , while addressing the generality of the staff of the CDL at an interactive forum after the three (3) hour campus-wide facility tour, commended the staff for their rather palpable commitment to the progress of the CDL, charging them not to relent in the good works which according to him are worthy of emulation.
The Vice-Chancellor who affirmed that the CDL is not under any threat whatsoever as it has been doing well financially, appealed to the staff to moderate their agitations for the payment of some allowances paid on the main campus, noting that the Board of the CDL will look into their request to see what can be legitimately accommodated, without being rail-roaded.
Professor Ogunbodede, going down the memory lane, shared openly how the CDL was birthed, the challenges at infancy which were successfully surmounted, and how the incumbent Director, Professor Micheal Akanni had remained the unsung hero of the Pre-degree programmes of the CDL, urged the staff to redouble their efforts so that the striking serenity and neatness of the campus can be sustained.

In his welcome address, the CDL-boss, Professor Akanmi stated that the Moro campus, as the CDL is fondly called, is delighted to receive the VC and his management team on the working visit to the campus, pleading with the VC to leave no stone unturned in the quest to further develop the Centre and make it an enviable model, but also on the continent.
Professor Akanni further solicited the support of the Vice-Chancellor for the prompt approval of requests from the Centre, maintaining that this would facilitate the equipment acquisition initiative of the Centre’s leadership, as well as its capital developmental efforts.

Five Reasons To Attend Forex Mastery Class Today

It's no news anymore that Forex Trading Mastery Class would hold on Obafemi Awolowo University campus, Ile-Ife, today. But I must tell you, there are hundreds of reasons not to miss this opportunity class and I just pen down 5 generic reasons for you. See below :

1. Opportunity
As you know opportunity comes but ones, Forex Traders really don't teach people about the trade and if at all they would teach you, it won't be free. I urge you to grab this opportunity ones and for all.

2.Empowerment
I hate when young minds cry of no job, when in the real sense they can create hundreds of jobs for themselves in a day. This masterclass is not a 'talk talk' but practical class that's set to empower only interested participants alone.

3.Financial Independence
Have you wondered why some of your friends keep getting dope all the time, without doing 'yahoo yahoo'? Or how some of them tell you "the last time I collected money from my parent is so so so and so year". With Forex Trading, you would be financially independent of your family, like you start sending them money self...

4. Mentorship
Everyone needs a mentor, even mentor needs mentor. That's the road to success. There would be 2weeks close Mentorship class on Forex Trading after November 18th, where participants would be set up on Forex platforms.

5. Goody Packs
Personally, I hate to attend totally boring class like CHM 101 or MTH 202. So I can assure you of successful exit from this Forex Trading Mastery Class with goodie bags, which includes e-certificate, pen and paper and MacForex Ukraine shirts.

Zimbabwean Peaceful Transition, Buhari Reacts

By John Beloved

Zimbabwe stands in a tense and uncertain situation following the military Control of the country.

93 year old Robert Mugabe, the president of Zimbabwe since the country gained independence from the white minority in 1980 triggered the unpleasant situation by firing his vice president Emerson Mnangagwa and presuming 52 year old Mugabe grace, his wife as his successor.

The presumption of Grace Mugabe as his successor was opposed by senior military officers as Constantino Chiwenga, the Head of Armed Forces had earlier threatened to intervene in politics if Mugabe did not stop removing veteran from government. Obviously he had kept to his words as the actions were taken today.

Cars and troops were seen blocking the road on outside the Parliament on the street of harare, the capital of Zimbabwe on Wednesday 5th November 2017. Robert Mugabe has been removed from power and his Ex vice president Mnangagwa has been installed as an interim president through a bloodless transition of power as it was called.

“We are only targeting criminals around him (Mugabe) who are committing crimes that are causing social and economic suffering in the country in order to bring them to justice,” Major General SB Moyo, Chief of Staff Logistics, said on television.
“As soon as we have accomplished our mission, we expect that the situation will return to normalcy
United Nations secretary-general Antonio Gutierrez, the African Union and Western countries and called for calm.

Residents of the country quietly continues with their daily activities quietly as some of them seems to be intrigued by the situation. "I don’t support the army but I am happy to see Mugabe gone, maybe this country can start to develop again,” said Rumbi Katepfu, preparing to shut her mobile phone shop early in downtown Harare. “I did not think this would ever happen... We used to think Mugabe and Grace were invincible"

President Buhari responding to this issues seeks for peace in Zimbabwe,
He called for calm, peace and respect for the constitution in a statement released by his media aide Femi Adesina.

According to him “every attempt must be made to resolve all contentious issues by constitutional means in Zimbabwe to save the country from avoidable political instability.”

The safety of Mugabe and his wife Grace was guaranteed by South African President who had spoken to him stating that they were confined in their house.

However there is a probability that this might be the end of Mugabe's rule in Zimbabwe as he is allegedly now preparing to step down few hours after the Zimbabwean military take over.
