Brief Biography Of Stephen Keshi

His full name was Stephen Okechukwu Chinedu Keshi.
He was born on January 23, 1962.
He was from Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State. He played as a defender for Super Eagles of Nigerian and several football clubs.
Apart from the Nigerian national team, Keshi coached the Togolese and Malian national teams. He was the only coach to have taken the Togolese team to the World cup championship till date.
He made 64 appearances for Nigerian national team and scored a total of 9 goals. He played the defensive position.

He had his own sense of style as he never put on white trousers or a suit. He claimed not just feeling comfortable in them. So often times, he wore just a track suit of Nigerian colours. Keshi was quite a reserved person. He prefered to spend his free time with his wife at home. Even as a young man, he didn’t like partying. Keshi was a person of self-discipline.
He spoke French and English fluently.
Keshi was one of the only two soccer stars, along with Egypt’s Mahmoud El-Gohary, to have won the Africa Cup of Nations both as a player and a coach.
He won the African Nations Cup in 1994 as a captain and as a coach in 2013.
His wife of 33 years, Kate died on December 9, 2015 after losing a long battle with cancer. Keshi is survived by four children and his mother.

Stephen Okechukwu Keshi, former Super Eagles Coach and one time defender of the Super Eagles is dead.
Keshi who was 54 years old died at the wee hours of today, Wednesday, in Benin
He was confirmed dead by Ben Olaiya. Olaiya speaking to Vanguard Sport Editor, Tony Ubani on phone shouting Keshi’s nickname said ‘Tony yes the Big Boss is dead the Big boss is dead’.
Also Ademola Olajire, an Assistant Director of Communications in the Nigeria Football Federation, said that Keshi died after he was rushed to an hospital in Benin after complaining of his legs.
He said that Keshi had problems with his legs and that he could not stand for long.
More so Valere Hounandinou, an Assistant Coach to Keshi, confirmed to Vanguard that ”last week Stephen Keshi complained to him that he was having irregular heart beats and he advised him to go the hospital’.
The Nigeria Football Federation on its twitter handle @thenff tweeted ‘Former Nigeria Captain and Coach, Stephen Keshi, is dead. Reports say the legend died in the early hours of Wednesday, RIP Big Boss'

Nigerian DJs Ban Terry G's Songs
Following the drama that ensued when the popular music act, Gabriel Oche Amanyi, popularly known as Terry G slapped a disk jockey on stage for swapping his song for another artiste's song as a way of telling him to leave the podium. The Disciplinary Committee of the DeeJays Association of Nigeria (DJAN) is not taking the violent act lightly as the Association has released a circular to ban the songs of the Benue State born artiste.
However, the musician has taken to his Instagram page to apologise to DJ Jimmy Jatt, DJ Phreez and the entire DJAN for his behaviour, claiming in his words the without them, his music would be "...a total #nonesense"

EMBARGO ON ALL TERRY G's SONGS
It is with due respect that we hereby call on your solidarity to the aforementioned situation. The Deejays Association of Nigeria (DJAN) through the disciplinary committee had over the years intervened on issues affecting our members and Musicians cum Artistes whenever our Rights are trampled upon and Mr Gabriel Oche Amanyi aka Terry G have been given verbal warning on several occasions in recent times.
On Sunday the 5th of June 2016 at the Muson Center, Lagos State, Nigeria, a music/comedy show held and Terry G was not among the artiste billed to perform, he begged the organizers until he was told to perform for seven minutes, but he got on stage already tipsy and after about 18 minutes on stage insulting everyone, the organizers asked the DJ to play a different song by another artist, no sooner had the song began to play that Terry G descended on the DJ who was the head DJ of Jatt Incorporated. Beyond assault, the DJ sustained various degree of injuries on his face; right in front of the legendary Dj Jimmy Jatt.
This type of violence and physical abuse is unacceptable.
Although planned legal actions are on the way, after wide consultations and deliberations, the Deejays Association of Nigeria hereby place an 'EMBARGO' on all songs of Terry G, audio and video (including songs he featured in) indefinitely in all events, lounges, bars, radios and every other spot where it is the duty of a DJ to play music Nationwide.

NASU OAU Shuts Down School Gate Over VC Appointment

The Non Academic Staff Union of the Obafemi Awolowo University shut down the university's main gate in a bid to protest the alleged illegal appointment of Professor Ayobami Salami as Vice Chancellor of the Institution. The Union's action led to the prevention of buses from entering into the University campus. The Union also stalled the ongoing Departmental and Faculty registration of the Freshers and also halted the Library registration, after which its members took to the University Emotion ground to Sing songs of Protest.
Speculations have begun to arise that the protests of the Union may eventually evolve into a full fledged industrial strike action leading to the shutdown of the University. However, the Union is said to have taken the case to court today. The proceedings of the case to come later...

NASU OAU Rejects New VC Appointment
Sequel to the appointment of Professor Ayo Salami as the new Vice Chancellor of the Obafemi Awolowo University, the Non Academic Staff Union has come out to reject the former Deputy VC as the new VC.
Reports from an exclusive chat of the Insider News Network with the chairman of NASU, OAU, Comrade Wole Odewunmi, confirmed the appointment of Professor Salami.
However, the chairman faulted the process that brought in the new vice chancellor, stating in his words, "we will protest the illegal appointment that was made from Abuja, Prof Salami should come and tell us he is the new vice chancellor, in fact we are heading to Osogbo federal high court tomorrow (7th of June), However we will not go on strike, we will stay and fight the battle".
Breaking: OAU Gets New Vice Chancellor
Authorities of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife has ratified the appointment of Professor Ayobami Taofeek Salami as the new vice chancellor of the institution.
Prof. Salami was the immediate past Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) of the institution. He graduated with a B.Sc degree (2nd Class Upper division) from (then) University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife) in 1986 before he bagged an M.Sc degree from Obafemi Awolowo University in 1989 with a specialty in Land use and Natural Resources Management. He capped it up with a Ph.D degree from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife in 1996 having obtained, in 1990, a Post-Graduate Diploma in Remote Sensing Applications: Training in Environmental Data Generation/Handling and Geographic Information System.
A widely travelled academic, the new Vice-chancellor (Academic) became a Professor on the 1st of October, 2003. The New VC (Academic) was the secretary, Academic Staff Union of University (ASUU) OAU branch from 2000 – 2002, and two term member of OAU Governing Council from 2003 –2007. He worked as a Senior Research Adviser, Corporate Environment Department, Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) Nigeria from 2010 – 2011 as a Sabbatical Staff. Prof. Salami has attended short training Courses in many countries Including Italy, The Netherlands, Sweden, Canada and U.S.A. He has also had teaching and research experiences in The Gambia, Tanzania and The Netherlands. Professor Salami is happily married with three children. Until his new appointment, Professor Salami was the Head of Space Applications and Environmental Science Laboratory (SPAEL) and Coordinator, Climate Modeling Unit, Institute of Ecology and Environmental Studies, OAU, Ile-Ife. He was the Director of the Institute of Ecology from 2006 – 2010.
