Another OAU Shut Down Beckons: We May Return Home Soon

Another OAU Shut Down Beckons: We may return home soon

 Great Ife be warned!

As we prepare for resumption, we must all know that it is not impossible for us to return home quick. You are surprise? Oh! You want to ask why? Basically because of Ebola  Virus Disease amid other reasons.

If care is not taken we will be sent home not by the school management but by the Federal Government because of EVD. We have not resumed fully and students have started creating panic about Ebola on campus. Why? You must realise that any rumour about EVD on OAU campus can easily be believed by any one because of the massive presence of bats, which is believed to be one of the major carriers of EVD.

Most of us may think the federal government is not taking the issue serious but occurrences have shown that EVD is not a child's play. If FG can ask all primary and Secondary Schools not to resume because of EVD, what ll take it to indefinitely shut down OAU. It won't be easy to reopen if closed by FG at all..the conditions for reopening will definitely be stiffer.

Let us be very careful with the kind of jokes we crack, kind of things we post, confirm every rumour before spreading it; we need to graduate on time; the image of OAU must be our concern. Or how will you feel to read/listen/watch on national newspapers/Radio/TV that 'Federal Government closes OAU over Ebola'?... Please let us be careful.

Please use the SHARE button to Re-broadcast if you care about graduating on time and saving OAU's image

OAU Fee Hike Novella (Episode 12)

Somewhere in Angola, fresh students were discussing .Are you not coming for the Bonfire organized by the SU, am eager to witness how it will look like, someone said.True enough the Bonfire attracted many fresh students and stalites alike, people had fun while they listened to the history of the Union, the struggles and were intimated about thecurrent struggle.

Everybody that attended the Bonfire that  day had one thing or the other to say about it.The next day,a movie about how a former Students Union Secretary was killed was shown by the SU,with the head of the Students Union freshers' welcome committee and also the SU VP Olori, talking about the event, the past heroes and about the Film that was to be shown. Student left the Amphi theatre, venue of the program with mixed reactions, while some were emotionally touched others talked about Afrika's braveness.

At Awo hall, everything was cool with freshers not in the hostel, having gone to Amphi theatre for the Film show. Guys were discussing in groups, talking about the situation of the fee hike and failure of negotiations between the SU and the school management. Tunde who was part of the discussion before leaving told the guys that trouble maybe brewing if the issue isnt resolved,he finally left them to catch some sleep.

Early the next morning,NEWS filtered in that the VC of the school will hold a press conference concerning the fee hike later that day.Maybe he wants to announce reduction oo,Sola said, when he heard the NEWS. He quickly phoned Tunde to inform him about the Press Conference Scheduled for later in the day. Tunde received this info with joy and hope.

The press conference was held later in the day and the VC said no going back on the increment,he blamed inflation and underfunding of the University for the increase. He said students have to pay the high amount to improve and maintain the standard of the instituation. What did the VC say? Tunde asked as he saw a guy with the tag Journalist on him.The guy explained what happened at the conference to Tunde. Tunde could only mutter a thank you,as he was disappointed,he had hoped that a reduction will be announced.Tunde left for the hostel not happy and didnt join in any discussion till he got to his room. There is going to be a congress tommorrow o,Saheed a roomate of Tunde said as he entered the room. Okay, i will attend, Tunde replied.
