RE: THE FABRICATED STORY OF MY DISMISSAL FROM OAU PEEPS

1. Dear friends, readers and entire Great Ife community, we find it necessary to keep you updated and informed about development on the ‘dust’ been raised by one Fatoyinbo Gafar, a one time member of OAU Peeps News Agency whose dismissal was formally announced on our website recently.

2. Let us start by appreciating Gafar for the little period he spent with us though he was not active for most of this time; according to him, this was due to his inability to frequently access the internet which we perfectly understood. To douse possible tension of a perceived media face-off, we have no issue whatsoever with Fatoyinbo Gafar before and after now and we see no reason why we will in any way soil his name as he has alleged.

3. For Gafar to have taken to the social media to say that he resigned and not dismissed, we suspect semantics issue. The fact remains that Fatoyinbo Gafar and some other old members were relieved of their membership of the agency DUE TO their long inactiveness which the agency could no longer condone.

4. It has been our usual practice to make public those who resign/who are dismissed/who are relieved because we wish to protect our corporate integrity and keep the university community safe from so many persons who parade themselves as journalists and are not/no longer recognized within the media circles they claim to be affiliated to.

5. We need not to be on the defence for the Association of Campus Journalists (ACJ) who he has regrettably dragged into what should have been an internal issue because such has been with so many people of his kind and their allegations most of the time obviously turn out to be baseless and unfounded. About his wrong assertion that OAU Peeps News Agency is insensitive to matters that affect the studentry, it will be cheer waste of time to start enumerating several instances where we have championed reasonable students' causes even at the expense of our ‘gold’.

6. This rejoinder came as a result of pressure from our friends that we should come out to clear the air because of our hard earned reputation which has been collectively built by our committed and reputable members over the years. We however state once again that Fatoyinbo Gafar remains a friend to the Editor-in-chief, at least from the viewing angle of the EIC himself.

7. I will advise Mr Fatoyinbo Gafar and his associates who have taken advantage of this matter without weight to cast aspersion on the entire pen pushers to carry out their homework very well before bursting to the social media next time.

8. Thank you and God bless OAU community.

Best Regards,
Prince David Adetula
Manager/Editor-in-chief, OAU Peeps News Agency

Oluwagbade Emmanuel Becomes Next President Of Pharmacy Students

The atmosphere was tense on Wednesday, 2nd March, 2015 in the Faculty of Pharmacy, Obafemi Awolowo University as the association of her students, the Pharmaceutical Association of Nigerian Students (PANS), had her election for the 2015/2016 academic session.
 The Election which was quite intense compared to what the association had had in recent years commenced around 9:30 am and at the end of the exercise, about 70% of the members of the association had come to exercise their rights.  One peculiarity about the elections were the keenly contested posts of President (Which had three candidates), Vice President ( Two Candidates), General Secretary (Four Candidates), Public Relations Officer (Two Candidates), Treasurer (Two Candidates) and Financial Secretary (Two Candidates). The newly elected executive officers of the association and their would be offices include;
Oluwagbade Emmanuel (Eminel)- President
Oguns ‘Yimika (Skies)- Vice President
Amosun Tola (Pharmtea)- General Secretary
Atoyebi Emmanuel (Emmy)- Public Relations Officer
Jokanola Victor (favourphilic)- Financial Secretary

The Reflector Team Holds Book Festival 2016 In OAU

"Books are the carriers of civilization. Without books, history is silent, literature dumb, science cripple and speculation at a stand still" [Barbara Tuchman]. When we celebrate and appreciate books, we celebrate nature, heroes, lifetimes, creativity and existence.

After a long trip to the desert of oblivion, Book Festival is ushered back into the literary arena of Obafemi Awolowo University by The Reflector Team. At the REFLECTOR BOOK FEST 2016, phenomenal authors and thought-drivers from all over Nigeria will be engaged and written words will voice out. Here are some life-changing experiences participants should expect:

Former OAU SU Welfare Officer Calls For Probe Of Student Union Leaders

A one time Welfare Officer of the Obafemi Awolowo University Student Union, Ajewole Martins Oluwole a.k.a Ojogbon has called for the probing currently suspended Student Union leaders over about 8 million naira union fund allegedly not accounted for. This he said is necessary before calling for the probing of the University officials.

In a 6-paged article written by the former Unionist titled "Before I Sign Out of the System", he related his opinions on several hanging issues ranging from that which surrounded the non frenzy relationship between the Ibikunle-led SU leadership and the TY-led SU leadership. He however called on OAU students to probe the suspended Union leaders and make them account for the allegedly misappropriated union money.

"Probing of the current administration in arm of affairs of Obafemi Awolowo University is very necessary and important because I'm not insensitive to the negative relationship between our general welfare and funds coming into this school in different forms but we need to probe ourselves before championing that course because all of you shouting probe Omole has no moral value and integrity to do that.

"What do you have to say to a situation when Great Ife students’ union leaders cannot account for over N8,000,000.00k (Eight millions naira only) (N3,500,000 received from management as subvention, N3,600,000 realized from Satguru Maharaji, Former Speaker, Oyo state house of Assembly and Oba Onifa Agbaye’s Awards, N200,000 received from Ooni of Ife, N100,000 received from Dr. (Mrs.) L.M. Durosinmi in the beginning of this session, N205,600 received from Dr. Fola Akinosun for his son’s rape case that TY administration covered up cum scholarship sponsorship, numerous money outsourced from corporate bodies in the name of scholarship, money transferred from Ibikunle led-administration etc.).

"If the same set of people that are absorbing (all in the name of suspension that the reality is still questionable) TY led-administration of this high degree of financial misappropriation and atrocities because they have gotten their own share in the form of scandalous scholarship and sponsorship are now shouting “Probe Omole administration”, IT IS CALLED HYPOCRISY. So, let us start the probing from within and be sure we are corruption free first. Therefore, before we can further our probe Omole-led administration campaign, let us pause and probe ourselves and TY’s led administration in particular; TY led administration should make available all the lists of beneficiaries of their N1,600,000.00k scandalous scholarship for all Great Ife Students to see, all incomes and expenditures report of their administration.

Ekpa Stanley Emerges LSS OAU President

Ekpa Stanley has emerged the new president-elect of the Law Students’ Society of Obafemi Awolowo University defeating Akande Paul with a margin of 160 votes.

Kicking off with the manifesto night on Sunday 28th March, 2016 at Law 209 where all the candidates with the exception of the lone aspirant for the office of the Director of Socials, Ogana Micheal aka Lord Mapex (who was absent due unfortunately to ill health), made their manifestoes known to those in attendance.

The election proper earlier scheduled to begin 9am on Monday had a late start and eventually kicked off at about 9:30am.
