OAU Student's Union Official Press Release On Adekunle Gold

OAU Student's Union Official Press Release On Adekunle Gold
 http://emsincorporated.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/How-to-write-a-press-release-2.jpg
This is the official press release from the office of the Social director.

Revolutionary greetings to my fellow Nigerians. Without wasting too much time on pleasantries, I will love to cut to the chase and set the record straight. Wale Applause, a social media publicist and a former Social director of OAU student union was the one who connected me with the Adekunle Gold’s manager. Wale Applause demanded 300 thousand naira as the fee to get Adekunle Gold to perform. As you would expect, there were negotiations but at the end of the day, Wale Applause did not shift ground as he was bent on collecting the 300 thousand naira. I had to agree. I gave them 250 thousand naira and promised to pay the remaining 50 thousand after the performance but on getting to Ilorin to pick up Adekunle Gold, I was made to pay the remaining 50 thousand before he agreed to come back to Ife with me. In the bus conveying us back to Ife, I asked him which song he will be doing and he said he will be doing ‘Sade’. So I told him he cant just do that only song and leave the stage, that OAU students will want more.
I suggested to him that he should find a way to entertain the audience for at least 20 minutes and he assured me he would. He said and i quote “I know how to handle my audience”. This put my mind at rest and I enjoyed the rest of my journey back to Ife as I looked forward to a great night with Adekunle Gold. We got to Ife and we lodged him in a hotel and I started putting the final preparations together. Around 9pm, when the show started, I got a call from his manager demanding that Adekunle Gold must perform immediately as he has another event the following day. I was not told all this before I paid for his services and I definitely cant let him perform at the beginning of the show when he is supposed to be the main act and the main act as we all know should end the show, not start it. I kept him at the backstage, provided adequate welfare, he interacted with the media outfits around, we all laughed and enjoyed from the backstage.
Four hours later, around 1am, it was his time to entertain his fans who had waited all night for him. As he was about to go on stage, I reminded him of the importance of making sure he finds a way to entertain the students for atleast 20 minutes and he said I should not worry. To my surprise, Adekunle Gold went on stage and did his only song ‘sade’ and spent exactly 3 minutes and 42 seconds. The audience, as expected got really angry and we had a mob coming towards the stage. We quickly took him away from the scene, found our way to the student union building, the mob running after us. The students demanded more for the 300 thousand naira! Fortunately, we were able to get him to his hotel room unharmed. The next morning, the students came to the Union building to make demands. They insisted that Adekunle Gold must refund atleast half of the money.
The Union president then appointed some persons to follow me to the hotel to make those demands. We got there and conveyed the message to his manager. I called Wale Applause and he said I should talk to the manager and reach a compromise. The manager agreed that his artiste was wrong to breach the agreement he had with me and that they would refund half of the the money. Chinko Ekun, a student of OAU and a YBNL artiste was there when this conversation was ongoing and he even went to the ATM with Adekunle Gold’s manager to get the money. There was no argument whatsoever, it was a peaceful and straight forward negotiation with the manager. Adekunle Gold did not even come out of his room until after negotiations were over. I made preparations for his transport but he declined. I am still trying to understand how exactly we robbed him? Wale Applause then called after he found out I was going to collect half of the money. He said he will make sure i regret this. He also said he controls all the artistes in the industry and he will make sure none of them ever comes to OAU in the future. He promised to damage my name and also the name of the school.

Wale Applause is a very well respected alumnus of this great university which is we are very dissapointed with his actions. Wale Applause is a wounded lion who has refused to let go of the past. He brought Durella to OAU when he was the Social director but the show flopped because Durella refused to respect the traditions of Great OAU students. His fans felt insulted and did not allow him perform and the show was brought to an end abruptly. Wale Applause obviously still feels he has a score to settle with the school management.
The school management suspended the Student union during his tenure. With all due respect to Mr Wale Applause, he has to tender an unreserved apology to great Ife students as his actions have been erratic and devoid of the calmness and intelligence one would expect from an alumnus. I am also very disappointed in the media outfits who have been accusing OAU students of robbery without even asking for our own side of the story. It is very alarming the level of mediocrity in our journalism today. It is most painful that some TV stations have also been so unprofessional with the way they have portrayed this situation to the general public. We are powerfully and seriously considering legal actions.

THE SECRETS OF SUCCESS (PART 1)- Adigun Olayemi

THE SECRETS OF SUCCESS (PART 1)- Adigun Olayemi
 http://www.instanthealthyliving.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/iStock_000008380085XSmall.jpg
To start with, success is always associated with many people because they stand a chance of bring fame to themselves and their colleagues. Success unlike failure has some steps to it, whereas from
some interviews made amongst students, 100% of their generality desire to be successful without knowing the steps to achieving this. I write to give them some secrets of success. Here are 5 tips to it. Enjoy it!

1 - Always be positive. Think success not failure. Beware of a negative environment. The moment you start saying to yourself 'I cant' , ' I wont ' , then you wont because it deters you from organizing yourself, in as much as your inner mind keeps on giving you bad notions about yourself. You have to stand up to your challenges(academically, private life, etc) and say to yourself ' I can ' ' I will ' . You have to be positive and you will notice that everything falls through your path.

2 - Decide upon your true dreams and goals. Write your specific dreams and goals out. Set out your goals to set out your success. Develop a plan to reach them. Goals are those concret ,measureable stepping stones of achievement that track your progress towards your dreams. Dont follow people in deciding your dreams or setting your goals,decide/ set it yourself. Deciding your dream makes you a
successful person, follow the path in which you have written and press forward on it day by day.

3 - Never stop Learning : Learning they say is a non-stop habit. Try to learn everyday, develop your brain everyday, let your brain take in something new everyday. Do not wait until you're being directed to read. Make your reading everying. Becoming a life long learner would be of a benefit to you and its something you should develop.

4 - Be Persistent and Work Hard : Success is a marathon, not a sprint. Never give up. Every story of success I read entails long hard hours of work. There is no getting around this and there is no short-cut to this. But if you're working towards something that you're passionate about, something you love then success will not be your enemy. Hardwork pays and persistence makes haters flee from you. Some notable successful people in Nigeria today are successful because they are very hardworking, therefore cultivate the habit today.

5- Focus Your Time and Money: Don't let other people or things distract you. Remain laser focused on your goals and sorround yourself with positive people that believe in you. Don't be distracted by the naysayer's or tasks that are not helping you achieve your goals. Be 100% focused on whatever you know would make you successful and a success in your field.

Ibiyemi Assumes Office As Secretary General On Monday, June 15

The EPC's newly declared substantive Secretary General elect of the Obafemi Awolowo University Students' Union, Awotiwon Ibiyemi has said he will assume office tomorrow, Monday June 15 by 12noon.

Following the disqualification of the sacked Secretary General of the Students' Union, Oketooto Oluwaseun last week by the Election Petition Committee(EPC), the Speaker of the Students' Representative Council(SRC) is expected to swear-in the winner declared immediately.

In a Press Statement made available to OAU Peeps News Agency by Ibiyemi, he lamented the continued raping of the Great Ife Students' Union constitutions by comrades having politicize the whole issue on ground.

"it melts my heart that things have fallen apart such that some notable comrades of this era of our Union are violently raping its tenets and the jurisprudence of our dear union."
Ibiyemi further raised concerns about the SU President, Akande Omotayo as he failed to yield to the verdict of the Election Tribunal as the sacked Secretary General still signed the Union's Release afterwards.

"The President of the union in his latest release on notice boards and on the Social Media proclaimed the 'DISQUALIFIED' as the Secretary General of our beloved Union. This further affirms the noble truth of Abraham Lincoln, when he said: Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. The President, Hon. Tayo, by so doing, has injured and jeopardized the sacrosanct constitution. This act of his has raised dust like an inferno with speculation from many corners. It is my contention that the president respects the institution of our great union by bowing to the order of judicial pronouncement irrespective of their affiliation with Hon. Seun even after he has agreed to concur with decision of the tribunal when I met with him"

In spite of the forgoing, Ibiyemi has said he will assume his full constitutional seat starting from 12noon tomorrow Monday June 15.

Hon. Seun has however not given any public comment on his disqualification since the EPC gave their verdict. Efforts to reach Hon. Seun after the judgement have proved abortive. However, Hon. Seun has vowed in a previous interview with him during the case not to accept the decision of the EPC if it goes against him as he will proceed to the Judicial Council to appeal it.

Virginity Day: Youths Advocate For No S.U.M. In Ile-Ife

Youths in the ancient town of Ile-Ife, Osun state were gathered on Saturday to advocate for sexual purity and abstinence from pre-marital sex particularly among the teenagers.

In aprogram powered by MINE Magazine held nationwide, Ile-Ife were not left out as teenagers all marched out to tell their colleagues the essence of they taking the 'No Sex Until Marriage' stand and promoting sexual purity.

A morning session of the programme was held at the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, Grace and Mercy parish which saw Pastor Ronke Taiwo talk to the youths about sexual purity. In her sermon, she explained that the discipline of saying no to sex before marriage is not just about God been grievious but for our own good. Pastor Ronke cited the escape from sexually transmitted diseases as one of the benefits that decision to stay pure come with. She further said that it even goes beyond sex.

"It goes beyond sex, all forms of sexual impurity should be abstained from. Masturbation, caressing and even kissing before marriage should be done away with." The pastor emphasized.

The overall coordinator of MINE Teenage Ministry, Timilehin Adigun and his spouse who spoke to the audience via the satellite narrated how they decided to stay pure during their time before marriage. They expressed joy for taking that decision at that time as they encouraged nowaday youths to follow suit.

Reacting to the turn up of youths to the maiden walk in Ile-Ife, Ola-Samuel Oluwaseyifunmi, the Ile-Ife coordinator opined it is quite satisfactory as the number of attendees for the walk was very encouraging. In her words, it goes beyond the crowd but impact is the most important thing.

"I can say the purpose has been served because it is all about sexual purity. Even with a few people here, at least for the first time, the population is very encouraging. It is not all about the crowd but impact."

The purity walk which stopped at Lagere did not end there as students of Obafemi Awolowo University were reached via the distribution of handbills on campus sensitizing them on the need to stay pure. The 2016 edition of the programme has been scheduled to hold on June 11.
