Secret of Success (Part 2)

Having read the 'Secret of Success Part 1', it is high time I enlightened you the more on the secret of success. I will like to shed  more light on some basic, if not necessary things to be successful.

A successful heart is a fulfilled heart that means if you are successful there will be a great joy in your heart. People tend towards you because they know you have a success packed story.

Success goes down to how you can make use of these few tips of mine. Read, digest and act on it.

Read motivational books
Reading motivational books makes you to discover yourself, your talent and your goal. Try as much as possible not to deteriorate motivational books that they are just mere books. These books are mostly written by successful people. It could be religious, academic, social or marital books. You tend to be successful in that area than them if you get a motivational book.

Always move with visionary people
Visionary people are those that have the sight on their future, aiming and striving to be successful. You will surely see it in their way of life and speeches in the class, in religious places and in other public grounds. They are zealous and concerned about their future. Move with them and make friends with them.

Efficiency
The only way you can ride on to success is by being efficient in every area. Nothing should be left untouched. Failure to go along with a specific part may lead to your failure in other parts because life requires you having a little knowledge at least in every aspect of it. Be dynamic and not static!

Change your life with your thought
This goes a long way because success begins with you, starts from your actions and perseverance. It starts from how much you can be able to think, reason and act. Your thought is very powerful and goes a long way in determining how successful you can be. You make choices yourself and  choose everything yourself.

Consistent in pursuit of your dreams and goals
Think about people who run marathon and win, does it just happen? They train for weeks and months focused on attaining that goal. They do not blame others if they fail. Likewise do they let other people's utterances down them. Therefore, only consistency makes the difference. Keep moving on and don't look at your past but focus more on your goal.

Remember, we will decide our destiny ourselves. Yes! You are where you are because that is where your mind wants you to be. It is not someone else's fault.

It is the way 99.9% of us have been conditioned but in an instant and a single instant, you can change all of that.

Therefore make the change today and get yourself on the right track. Danke!

OAU Post-UTME: DE Candidates Surprised With Current Affairs Questions

Over 27,000 candidates cutting across secondary school leavers and Direct Entry students who had applied to Obafemi Awolowo University for admission wrote today’s Post-UTME at various centres in the institution.

Many of the Direct Entry (DE) candidates that were tested for the first time via written examination have however expressed surprises with Current Affairs questions they were tested on. Many of them before now thought they would be tested on subjects relating to their field of study but that was not the case. One of the DE candidates who spoke with OAU Peeps News Agency on the condition of anonymity lamented that he was caught unaware as he was not prepared for what he met.

“I was not expecting Current Affairs questions. I was shocked when I saw questions on government, politics and the rest. As a DE student seeking admission into the Department of Electronics and Electrical Engineering, I was prepared to answer questions from Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics but got a big surprise instead”.

Another candidate who spoke with us expressed displeasure at the method adopted by OAU this year to screen DE students stating that they were just made to buy forms and write the examination unnecessarily.

“Things are just changing when it gets to my time. How can OAU suddenly wake up overnight and start Post-UTME for DE students. I think OAU only needs money and that is why they have made us to write this exam. Funny enough, we were not tested based on what we know.” Another Direct Entry candidate said.

In this year's Post-UTME, Direct Entry students were tested in two (2) sections, one was on Use of English and the other on Current Affairs.

In what seems to be a contrasting opinion, the secondary school leavers expressed satisfaction at the conduct of the examination. Many of them were optimistic that they will score good marks that will be sufficient for them to gain admission. However, some of these candidates complained of time insufficiency as they could not finish up.

The result of the Post-UTME is expected to be released and accessible on the school portal within 24 hours after the conduct of the examination.

Your Body Selects Too: Know Your Allergies - Pope Jay

 Three hundred years ago in certain parts of Africa, if a man had a rash or a serious cough, it would have been thought to most likely be a spiritual attack. A hundred years ago, it would most likely be thought to be an infection and perhaps maybe still a spiritual attack. However, in the present day; a continuous sneeze, persistent itching and a whole lot of other illnesses can now be traced to a wide range of causes; from a simple bacterial infection to a complex and maybe untreatable viral infection to a whole lot of others causes. However, a vast majority of these simple illnesses can now be traced to a simple negative reaction by the body to something it does not like, simply called an Allergy.

An Allergy is a hypersensitivity reaction by the body to foreign substances that in similar amounts and circumstances may not affect other people and the substance that causes the allergic reaction is simply referred to as Allergen and an allergen may be a number of things; dust, fur, a particular type of food, bites from particular insects and certain drugs to mention a few. An allergen varies from person to person meaning that what causes an allergic reaction in Mr. A may not affect Mr. B at all and this is a major reason why it is very important to know ones specific allergens.

Some symptoms of allergies may include reddening of the eyes, mild and severe itching, runny nose, skin infections and even asthma attacks. Allergies may be deadly in some instances leading to conditions like anaphylactic shocks which may in turn lead to death. Allergies as simple as they may seem contribute a whole lot to worldwide deaths as a result of ignorance, carelessness and the lackadaisical attitude of majority towards their allergens. 

 The best way to handle allergies is to prevent them, a man should learn what is allergens are and avoid them. However, due to the imperfection of man and his inability to have a hundred percent control of his environment, allergens may not be totally avoidable therefore people should try to learn more about the nature of their allergies and their respective first aid treatments. For example, a man who gets breathing difficulties when exposed to dust or a damp environment should try as much as possible to avoid dusty environments and damp and moldy places as mould spores could irritate him and set up a toxic reaction in his system, he should also get face masks, inhalers and over the counter drugs for his condition just in case. Allergic symptoms may however persist in some cases; it would then be advisable to seek out a professional medical practitioner to confirm if it is really an allergy and how best to treat it. 

 Allergic reactions affect a high percentage of the population and the health system apart from providing cures can also help the society by the frequent enlightenment of the general masses in order to be more conscious of this individualistic natural selection process of the body and perhaps, they may reduce the hospital visits.

OAU Post-UTME Candidates Embark On Last Minute 'Crashing'

The Obafemi Awolowo University is a hive of activities as scores of prospective students have arrived on campus in preparation for the upcoming Post UTME screening exercise which has been scheduled to take place tomorrow Saturday 8th August.

Being on the eve of D-Day, all halls of residence, academics and reading rooms are full of tenacious students girding up their loins to become successful in their examination.

Many of them whose places of residence are far from, or who came from distant states, have already arrived campus a week or two to the screening day, burning the midnight oil and making all necessary efforts to achieve their best in the screening test. This many undergraduates refer to as 'crashing'. The question that has however continually come up is that; how far with today's crashing influence the candidate's performance tomorrow?

With referenace to the success of the students, various tutorial classes were established all in the hope of bringing their dreams to fruition. Our advice to all potential students is to employ all the necessary tools at their disposal to make the most of what these tutorials offered in terms of help and support.

In the course of the exercise, it is important to be mindful of the strictness of the university with examination malpractices. All the students are therefore encouraged to distance themselves from all kinds of conduct that can implicate them.

Furthermore, students are, in the process of examination, advised to be equally responsive to instructions.

For students that will be arriving on campus on the screening day (or probably who have not known their screening centres) are urged to make sure that they come in good time to avoid traffic congestion which may delay their early arrivals.

Gani Fawehinmi Annual Scholarship Awards 2015

This is to inform Great Ife students and students from other tertiary institutions (universities, polytechnics and colleges of education) in Nigeria that application for the 2015 edition of Gani Fawehinmi Scholarship Awards has commenced.

The award is for 20 (twenty) students, each of whom will receive One hundred Thousand Naira (N100,000) making a total sum of Two Million Naira (N2,000,000.00).

Criteria for Award
(1) Applicants must be poor and indigent.

(2) Applicants must be registered students of tertiary institutions in Nigeria i.e Universities, polytechnics and colleges of education.

(3) Applicants must have good academic performance

Mode of Application
(A) Each applicant shall submit an application letter, not more than two (2) pages. The letter must include the name of the candidate, course and year of study, state of origin and why the candidate believes that he or she should be given the award.

(B) The application letter must be accompanied by:

(i)A photocopy of the candidates current identity card

(ii) A letter from the candidates current head of department, including correct information on the candidates CGPA for the last academic session.

(iii) A letter from the registrar certifying that the candidate is a student of the institution.

(iv) A copy of the candidates registration form for the current semester, and

(v) Two current passport photographs

The application letter, with all the supporting documents, should be forwarded by hand or postal delivery to:
