Federal Government Removes Petrol Subsidy

The Federal Government of Nigeria through the Ministry of State for Petroleum Affairs have removed subsidy on PMS in the Country. This was made known in a press release by the minister Ibe Kachichukwu. Petrol is now to sell for N145.

The last time the Federal Government tried to totally remove the subsidy was in 2012 and this was met by a strong resistance from the Nigerian Masses in what is known as one of the largest protests in Nigerian History and birthed the Occupy Nigeria Movement.  The protests eventually led to a partial removal of the subsidy.
