Hon. Seun's Saga: OAU SU PRO-elect Cautioned Over Threats To Journalists

PRESS RELEASE: HONOURABLE SEUN, THE FRAUD ALLEGATION AND IMMANUEL KANT'S THREATS TO JOURNALIST FROM INSIDER NEWS CREW

Exposing painful and hidden realities is our motto and will conthnue to be our motto. Evidence of electoral fraud by OAU SU Sec.Gen Elect reached our desk yesterday very early in the morning, the evidence accused Honourable Seun of having below 2.5 CGPA during the last OAU SU election, which would mean he did not meet one of the requirements for participation in the students' Union election. Anybody below 2.5 CGPA cannot participate in the election.

The evidence revealed that honourable Seun had 2.39CGPA as at the time of the SU elections. Insider sought the reactions of the General Secretary elect and he denied all allegations, saying his political enemies are behind his ordeal,he went to label a top journalist a 'daft' for reporting the allegation. In a democratic setting, should journalists be in prisons, should not we have freedom of information?

The PRO of the union, Immanuel Kant who should know better also has threatened to deal with journalists who write a report about the issue without informing the Students' union, while we put no quantum of magnificence or lay no credence to the PRO threats, it is surprising and unfortunate that in a modernized world of ours,in the age of respect for journalists, the PRO who should be unbiased and even while trying to be the image maker of the union should understand objective reportage would threaten journalists for towing their line of duty.

While we will not condemn honourable Seun as we are not the election petition tribunal or judges of morality,we stand to condemn any form of electoral fraud, at a time when even Nigeria is improving in terms of electioneering processes, should not it be condemnable that OAU SU can't or is perceived to be embedded in allegation of fraud? In the year 1999 Afrika died in the fight for the better Union,we frown at the smallest electoral fraud and if found guilty no matter the height of the position, culprits must be brought to book.

OAU SU Shouldn't be mediocre.

We say no to threats against journalists and Insider will not hesitate to expose painful and hidden realities.
